I have a 3.1L with basic climate control and the control to the vacuum motors to direct the air flow is very sluggish at start up. I've replaced the check valve that preceeds the line going into the firewall, most of the rubber lines and couplings and replaced the valve manifold at the control lever (defrost, AC, vent, heater, etc)
After the car is started it takes 2-3 minutes for the vacuum motors respond and deliver air where requested. I've looked and can't find a resevoir under the hood anywhere. I always thought GM and Ford products had this. (Chrysler is too damn cheap to include it, might cost 50 cents) Is it possible that I don't have one? I can't find a loose line or a "T" that goes nowhere. People have told me to look behind the passenger headlight area and other places but no 'plastic ball'. If I was to add one, would it go after the check valve on the firewall side of the system?

The reservoir should be between the front wheel and headlight UNDERNEATH the car, passenger side.

Thanks, I'll give a "look-see" under the chassis. I plan to buy a vacuum gauge and measure the manifold vacuum to see if I may have an undetected leak. What would be a normal reading at idle (14-15")? I get really good gas milage so I don't think I'll find a leak, but on the other hand the transmission shifts are much firmer that I would expect for easy driving and that might indicate low vacuum fooling the tranny into a power demand situation.
