Don't hold me to this but i don't believe the mid eighties 3.8L's were built enough internally to handle that kinda huff, at least not without rebuilding the internals.
Best bet (perhaps) would be to put an already supercharged 3.8 out of a Bonneville in.

The 3.8 Can handle it gm built several Turbo FWD prototypes, never made it to production because the transmission coulden't handle it.

It all depends on which 3.8 you have, is it gen 1.1, or gen 1.2. If its a gen 1.1, it doesnt have the counter balance shaft, and are already known to literally vibrate themselves apart. But the gen 1.2 is a smooth, solid motor.
How to tell which gen you have, I dont know.

eventually im going to boost the 3.3l...but trust me theres a whole lot more research and money to save up coming. Ive been looking into it since i got the car and im still not comfortable with ordering parts yet since this is my only car.
I figure a t3 at 6 or 7 pounds=220-240hp on the motor. In a car that weights what? 2900 factory?...it should rip

Pretty sure that started when they started calling them "3800"
The 3.8 LG3 in my ciera doesn't have one. It isn't that bad, it vibrates a little more at idle when you are at a stop light/you can feel it. Once you get going it basically goes away.

Your engine is built on the a similar platform as the 86 and 87 Turbo Regal engine. I am in the process of turboing one now. In fact I just posted a thread on it.
They are very, very strong. The reliability problems some people have seen are mainly due to plastic timing sprockets failing, bending valves, and clogging the oiling system.
When they went to the 3800 they installed the coutnershaft and at the same time got rid of that shitty nylon timing sprocket! The engines are both massively built and can take 400 HP routinely if supporting mods to fuel and ignition are done.
The least technically involved way (least "supporting mods") would be to install a complete supercharged 3800 and run it as-is. But this is not the most powerful option!!
There is nothing hard about making a turbo system as long as you have good fabrication skills. The hard part is the "supporting mods" to the rest of the car.
It is worth it, though. Turbochargers add power by way of increasing engine TORQUE. The engine does not have to exceed its factory RPM rating to make power. Turbo power is not like a high-revving "big cam" engine. Turbo engines have amazing mid-range torque right in the street driving range. If you ease the throttle open, without activating passing-gear, you feel the torque press you back in the seat. The power is effortless and always available. Press it all the way into passing gear, and it is like lighting a rocket. Radar detector flies off the dash, stuff in the floor goes underneath the seats and you better have both hands on the wheel, if you know what I mean!

Is this your engine? Can you post your main Car Domain page?

Do you have a CF5 on your rpo label?

That can withstand singificant boost with no internal changes. With intercooler, boost of 10 PSI should be completely safe, assuming proper ECM calibration.
Folks who doubt have not seen up close inside one of these engines. They haven't seen the size of the rods and crank journals, nor the thickness of the block casting.
These are not like the old 3.8 RWD engines.
Your car looks great - how close to "assembled" is she now? I like the black paint job.
