as i ve come to find out on a 2.8 L engine when replacing the intake manifold gaskets you must remove the pushrods. so far so good, but when reinstalling the rocker arms how do i tell how much to screw them down?

When you have assembled everything, including tightening the rockers, you start the engine (might be a good idea to guard against oil spills by using cardboard paper or hard plastic or sheet metal behind the rockers... ). You will probably hear a lot of knocking. tighten each rocker until you have eliminated the knocking sounds. Gas up the engine and listen for any unwarranted sound. Tighten as needed. Not so long ago I came across info on the 2.8L engine with all the needed info on how many lbs/kg's each and every bolt on the engine was supposed to have... including the rockers.
Where I came across it... I simply don't remember. But your ears should be more than adequate to do the job well enough. Just tighten until you are past the knocking... don't overdo it, and you'll be fine.

well if there hydrlic you make sure the lifter all the down and then you tighten the rocker arm just past the point were you cant spin the lifter rod. i dont know about soild lifters never had to mess with them. you going to have to bump the motor around tell you have all of them tightened
