Hey i need a little help on a couple issues my 1990 6000 LE 3.1 V6 is having
For one, the Radiator Fan wont come on at all, could the relay, or fuse even be bad, or do the motors in those usually just burn up, any ways i could check?
Is the TEMP light suppose to illuminate when the key is turned to ON? Mine doesnt,
Why wont my interior lights work? I replaced the CTSY fuse and they worked for like an hour now they dont work, but the dinger and all that still works, and the fuse has been replaced again to no avail.
Also! The horn doesnt work, and the fuse for the horn is gone.....as is the prongs and and wires behind it, whered they goooo??? I dont see them just hanging around behind the glovebox.
I also need help sourcing the flat dash peice for it, that is grey that goes around the stereo and all that, mines gone and the j/y here just crushed its last 6000 i was going to get parts off today!
Another thing, the Turnsignals dont reset themselves, any fix? Turn signal switch? How do you replace that anyway, im not quite sure how too.

I know this might sound too simple but are you sure your turn signal bulbs havent burned out? I know on mine whoever had the car before me jammed the wrong bulb in which still worked but was touching the corner lens on the inside and slowly melted it down. Anyway point of the story is that when the bulb went on me the turn signal on the dash would just light up and not go click clack click clack.... which I guess is the cars way of telling you, you have a burned out bulb. Sorry if this is redundant and you have already checked this but figure the simple things first then the more complicated.

The cooling fan issue could be caused by all of those things you listed, they are all common. Your turn signal issue is likely the little springs in the turn signal switch are broken. You can get good ones at the yard and use those, as it's much easier to do than replace the whole assembly. I don't know about your dome lights:rolleyes:

Wrong! The temp light should be on when the key is on but engine not running, and while it is in 'start'
You probably both have blown bulbs.

ok so how do you get to those little springs, i think i do need a new switch, its cracked so the little PUSH for spray just spins. How hard is it to replace them, whats involved. I fixed the fan today, new fan. The blinkers dont reset themselves around corners, they flash just fine.

If your PUSH for spray just spins, chances are, the stalk itself is broken. It can be replaced easily if you don't have cruise. With the wipers in the off position, just pull it straight out of the column and the new one pushes back in. It is the same if you have cruise, but the wires for the cruise will need to be run through the column.
The springs for the switch can be removed with needle-nosed pliers (they are left and right specific) once the steering wheel and lock-plate are removed. It really helps to have a steering wheel puller and a GM lock plate tool, which are both cheap.

What I do is this:
Unplug connector under dash
Tie about 2 feet of mig wire to the connector
Wrap tape around it to keep the connector from turning sideways
Gently pull the wires through the column (you may need to experiment with different tilt positions)
Make sure there is always mig wire left sicking out the bottom of the column
Reattach the mig wire to the stalk connector and wrap with tape
Pull on the mig wire (carefully) to string the new wires back through the column
Plug in connector
Push new stalk into column
*hint* do not try and use speaker wire in place of the mig wire, it will break;)
