WOW never heard something come and go like that. Ummm sounds a little like something hitting the valve cover sorta.:(

I'll be damned... this sounds like ... nothing I have ever heard.

Not continous, but comes back again. I'd wish I could help you out, but I simply don't know what this might be. Hopefully someone else around here has a clue.

Do those have EGR valves? If theres a leak at the EGR, maybe when it opends it makes a large exhaust leak that can sound alot like knock. Just a thought

Never hear anything quite like that from a Quad 4... Thats a new one for sure..

I couldn't even tell you what that sound is..

All GM motors that I'm aware of have EGR valves.

Function - Is to cool down the cylinder head temperature.

If you disarm EGR, it will cost you higher MPG...make it work...best performance with OEM computer system.

I doubt if EGR is the problem...you hear a ping/knock noise...
