Guys, I have a bit of a problem, maybe somebody can chime in. My grand father has a 1984 Celebrity Eurosport. It's a 2.8, 3-speed auto car. Now, it's going to need some new front brakes. I don't know if it has the light duty or heavy duty brakes. I would love to check except for one little thing... The car has been in Greece since 1990!!!! What I can tell you it has the 14" Eurosport 5-stars, same style like the Citation X11. I'm suspecting it has light duty because those rims only came in a 5x100 bolt pattern right?
In other news, I sold my Celebz to my buddy's girlfriend, but I'd like to jump into another A soon.
Thanks
Tuddi

5x100 is JA1 .... as far as I know.

All wheels were available in either pattern. There was a slight appearance difference between the two versions of styled steel (Rally) wheels though.

Have your grandfather check the RPO code list on the spare tire cover in the trunk. It will either have JA1 (light duty) or JA2 (heavy duty) listed.

I would but he's here now. He goes to Greece every May. It would be rather costly to ship the parts. Would the dealer know with just the VIN?

It's the same rims like this Citation.

I'm pretty sure there is no way to tell from the VIN, only the RPO codes. If i had to take a guess, i'd say JA2 just cause it's a 2.8L Eurosport, but there are JA1 2.8's as well (i believe).

Is JA8 (medium duty) is the same as JA1?

Ja8 uses the larger 5X115 bolt spacing. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

My '84 Eurosport has 5x100 wheels, and my '85 has 5x115. Both have the same style X11 type aluminum wheels, and both cars are 2.8 auto. The '85 is OD trans. I never quite understood why they made 2 sizes, but they did...:dunno:
