View Full Version : 94 Cutlass Ciera POOR HANDLING HELP!

I found this site in a quest to improve the handling of my 94 Olds Cutlass Ciera. It is the 4 door 3.1 model and as far as I know it has no options at all.
The handling and ride quality are possibly the worst I have ever had in a car. Before I bought this car, I thought of body roll as a nag on a daily driver. Now I fear it might roll over (exaggeration, but you get the point non the less.)
I am not looking for a whole lot out of this car, but I would like to get some handling out of it. I don't expect miracles, but was wondering if you guys had any experience with some mods that may help me out a little. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like something might be BROKEN. Did you have it inspected? If everything is OK then maybe its OLD and worn out. If thats not the case then you should invest in some sway bars first then maybe some stiffer springs. There are plenty on here who know where to go for both and I am sure they will chime in.
Welcome to the site, enjoy your stay.

First I would look at getting new struts and shocks. I have KYB GR-2 and they work pretty good. After that I would look at getting polyurethane bushings for the front swaybar. If you still aren't happy after that I would look at getting an Addco rear swaybar. There used to be Eibach pro-kit spring made for A-bodies, but they aren't made anymore and are getting hard to find.

Is there a strut tower brace for our cars?

Probably have to fabricate something. The Closest GM match I found is from the E Body Eldorados.

I saw one in pictures of a celebrity that had been given a V8 engine from a Caddy. If it was original or customjob I don't know.

Close enough to bolt on, or least amount of cutting/welding?

You might try this website. They're called Performance Suspension Technology. They make an Original Performance Kit for the Cutlass Ciera. Not too expensive... :D

Well, not quite...if you get a 1952 Buick Roadmaster, with a 320 Cubic inch straight eight and Dynaflow Transmission, and let the shocks/springs wear out on this 4,285 pound beast, this baby will rock-n-roll on corners....

Yes, as noted: 320 Cubic inch straight eight

You can actually tell by those little chrome things on the side of the fenders, the name of them escapes me at the moment. If they had 3 on each side, it was a 6 cylinder. If there was 4 on each side, it was an 8 cylinder.

I must have overlooked something, I did find swaybars though.

Look for an Original Performance Kit from P-S-T.
