Ok, now I have got myself the basic parts for making the hood opening electrically by the push of a button.

I have the button, I have the solenoid, I have the grandiose plan of having to do nothing more than pushing my button to open the hood... but then I heard the local prices of the lifters I'd need to insert... and all of a sudden I realized that I still had functional arms and hands and muscles.

Tomorrow I have a business meeting with a major company here in Peru... they are doing what Google Maps has done to the US... making maps of every city in Peru. They are interested in my panoramic photos for their project for the capial of Peru (Lima), and that's something I have been interested in for a long time too... but hadn't been able to find any partner to work with. If we reach a common ground and make a deal for this, I'd be occupied for the next couple of years at least... Me being the ONLY 360° x 180° photographer in the whole country, limits their options. I am selling my services at 1/5th of US/EU price levels... but still it's considered to be "expensive".... I'm not going to give my labour away, so .... maybe they'll accept my prices... maybe they won't.... but if they want this service, they'll have to consider me in a serious manner.

That means that I won't be doing my hood project tomorrow... but it's in the "no return possible" position.

I will make the project fully documented with pictures for everyone to understand and be able to copy-cat the process. I bought NEW parts... but used parts could have been used just as well... and preferably so because of lower price.

Check here for devellopments as I get the time to attend to this.

As an alternative, you'll find the lever to pop the hood in the lower left area of the dashboard. It's next to the e-brake pedal.

:) lol... yes I know... it's there allright, but it's hard to pull and the cable will tear apart in several places over the years.... and by pushing a button, you save the hand pull cable from being used to death.

In my car's case, the cable cape is broken in 3 places, and at the locking mechanism 3 threads of the steel cable were broken from the seal. Still working though... The cable was too long in my case, and after I pulled the lever under the dash, I'd have to push it in again (over 2 inches) to have it in place again. I fixed that yesterday by cutting off the excess cable and making a new seal on the end of it.

But I still want it to be electric. Just a push of a button, and then it's about raising the lid and secure it. Much easier.
