Would it be ok to get a radiator from a junkyard for cheap, or is it too risky and I should just get a brand new 1 for a bigger price tag?

I wouldn't risk it. Best case, it works fine for a while, but you'll eventually need a new one. Worst case, you throw it in, it's terribly clogged, no circulation, you blow a head gasket or warp a head.

Also, "junkyard" is not really a descriptive thread title. Something more like "Junkyard radiator—worth the risk?" is better, and doesn't take that much longer to type out.

I see no problem with it, if the radiator looks new and has been obviously replaced.

I have had terrible luck with j/y radiators. But if it looks good, fairly clean and undamaged, and has no signs it was leaking, then why the hell not. Plug a new rad is only like 90 bucks. Radiator barn sent me mine for 90$ w/ free delivery to my door

This isint a place to judge how and what people put in their posts titles. Anyways, thank you all for your help and opinions on the matter of my babys radiator.

I wouldnt. sittin in a j/y for who knows how long, and who knows what could be living in it causing troubles inside. spend the extra bread and buy a new one. just my 2c

EDIT: also, he was just giving you a heads up for future reference, more descriptive thread titles will often yield more answers

I would advise you to buy the JY radiator if it looks good. Monitor it closely for the first couple hours and if it is not leaking or overheating all will be well!

The title confused me too. This is because several of us like to share pictures of our trips to junkyards, and I was expecting junkyard pictures! Search "yarding" and you'll see.

Thanks,
David

I've had bad experiences with JY radiators. I've been through 6 of them before finding a good one with my Cadillac. I can't really say it was all bad because they JY was happy to return the broken one and swap it for another one to try. I've had the current one in there for a year now without any issue.

Trying to help you bro. It shows how lazy you are. Maybe next time I'll show the same laziness and not click your thread with its uninformative title.

Not typing in a couple extra words is not lazy. Just thought i'd let you know. As for your crummy advice, stick it up your ass. Thank you all for your input (except duke) and help. I think I will go and just get a new one for my trusty rusty. :)

Back off on the hostility. Duke is just trying to help you out, giving you some advice on forum etiquette. He was completely respectful and honest, and there is NO reason for you to get offended. Most forums have strict rules with titles and such and stupid, vague, unclear titles will get posts deleted, and some may even ban users. Its unfortunate that rule is not clearly defined on this forum, because it would be nice to see it get used as a result of your disrespect. I cannot understand why you, with your whole 4-ish posts a month, find it necessary to be such a dick to someone who has ten times as many posts and is probably a whole lot more respected on here, because im sure with that last post nobody has any respect for you.

I just come here to look for help on my 23 year old car as I don't know diddley about cars. But the number of posts someone has is irrelevent to the situation at hand. Just because he posted more doesnt mean he has seniority over me and can blurt out random things that don't make sense. I just need advice, not a lecture. It's about my CAR, I don't care weather or not I put enough words in a title. I like to keep things simple.

I typed up four different paragraph-long responses to you before I decided it wasn't worth the time or aggravation. We might be a bit more receptive if you actually contributed to this forum. The majority (29/40) of your posts have been in threads you've made asking for help on this that and the other.

Swapping (http://www.a-body.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1948)

The other eleven are general white noise or hijacks to get help with your own car that's having a similar problem. True, quantity of posts is irrelevant. It's the quality of your posting that is suspect. Put some more effort into your time here, like, maybe, contributing to other people's problems, or just be too simple to log in next time.

Yea no doubt, like junkyards a title, how bout Radiator opinions, or J/Y Radiator, somthing that actually means somthing. That and dont hijack other threads with completly irrelevent questions to help yourself, thats like butting in on somebody's conversation, its rude!

I bought a brand new HD 3-row copper/brass radiator (not plastic/aluminum) off of eBay not too long ago. I put in a make offer bid of $140 with shipping included. It is now in one of my '90 Ciera's. It is one *heavy* radiator, tho.

Not sure if there are more on there, but it pays to look.
