The olds Ciera, and the Buick Century got the 3.8. But you said High Output? are you referring to the Supercharged version? cause thats the only HO version of the 3.8 there is (except for the 3.8 turbo in the grand national).
And then there is Skalors 3.8 But I think that goes beyond the definition of HO!!!

The 3.8 was considered a high output engine AFAIK. According to my RPO codes though I have a 2.8 HO X_X, so I dont' know what they wanted to consider as being high output.

The Vin 3 3.8 V6 was a HO motor
The Vin C was Simply what they called an MFI 3800
The Vin L was a slight improvement, keeping Low end torque and pushing the HP up the power band a bit... It was called the L27 HO( 1990-1995 Depending on model )
The 1995 L36 3800 Series II( first year in the Bonneville, Olds 98 and Park Avenue )... Yet more breathing improvements, Engine internals shrank making it a short deck block, and the internals lost weight giving it the ability to spin up quicker and develop more power... This engine was Labeled L36 SFI HO
Hope that helps

Good luck buying a GN.
H-Body = Olds 88 & LSS, Buick LeSabre, Pontiac Bonneville (1994 - 200?)
W-Body = Buick Regal, Pontiac Grand Prix (1997 - up)

Nope, I see it, and I'll expand for clarity.
As for anyone consulting this thread for reference, I'm only going to write this once, but you can refer back to it as many times as you need to.
Many people seem to toss around the terms "3.8" and "3800" interchangeably. This is not incorrect, but also not the accepted terminology.
In FWD GM motors, "3.8" refers to the Buick designed V6 available in 1980's A, H, and C-bodies. I won't get into the varied states of tune, but the FWD 3.8 was available in the following cars:
Pontiac: 1987-88 Bonneville (H-body)
Oldsmobile: 1984-88 Cutlass Ciera (A-Body), 1986-1988 Eighty-Eight (H-Body), 1985-1987 Ninety-Eight (C-Body)
Buick: 1984-88 Century (A-Body), 1986-88 LeSabre (H-Body), 1985-87 Electra/Park Avenue (C-Body)
In 1988 a redesigned version of the FWD 3.8 debuted. This is the first iteration to be labeled 3800. There are many varieties within 3800's, and some of the differences are substantial. With the exception of F-Bodies, all 3800's are transversely mounted FWD powerplants. All of the following vehicles were available with the 3800:
Chevrolet: 1992-95 Lumina APV (U-Body), 1995-2002 Camaro (F-Body), 1998-99 Lumina (W-Body), 1998-2005 Monte Carlo (W-Body), 2000-05 Impala (W-Body)
Pontiac: 1988-2005 Bonneville (H-Body), 1992-95 Trans Sport (U-Body), 1995-2002 Firebird (F-Body), 1997-2008 Grand Prix (W-Body)
Oldsmobile: 1988-99 Eighty-Eight/LSS/Regency (H-Body), 1988-96 Ninety-Eight (C-Body), 1992-95 Silhouette (U-Body), 1998-99 Intrigue (W-Body)
Buick: 1988-1991 Reatta (V-Body) 1988-99 Riviera (E/G-Body), 1988-2005 LeSabre (H-Body), 1988-2005 Electra/Park Avenue (C/G-Body), 1990-2004 Regal (W-Body), 2005-08 LaCrosse/Allure (W-Body), 2006-08 Lucerne (H-Body)
There you go. Pick from the above list to find a car available with the 3800. Let me know if I left anything out, but I'm pretty sure that's it.

Yup you hammered it..
The 3800 Vin C, 3800 Vin L and 91.5-95 Vin 1 engines are all very close in design, with some minor changes.. ( Commonly Called series I engines )
The series II 3800 was a complete redesign... One of the few things that remained the same was Bore and stroke... LOL:)
