My 93 century sat for 8 months I took it for a spin today it bogs way down almost like its going to stall during acceleration. I planed on changing plugs and wires anyhow. If that doesn't fix it what else should i check? Unrelated questions: did this car come with platinum plugs stock? Dose any have or seen a battery for these cars with side post and top posts? Thanks.

It probably came with copper plugs from the factory. I put platinums in my Century recently, only because I don't want to have to do it again for a while. There are batteries that have both style posts, just look around at the parts house.

As for the bogging down, if it sat for that long, the gas in the tank probably went bad and clogged up the fuel injectors or the pump. Get some fresh fuel and an injector cleaning additive in the tank and see if that helps.

SideBar - I got about 70,000 miles on Copper plugs...they were shot, of course...but if you didn't need to put the pedal to the metal, they worked....otherwise, surging acceleration...piss poor acceleration...had to inch the throttle to get somewhere at higher speeds.

Check fuel pressure, replace fuel filter... check TPS operation, ensure vacuum lines are all properly hooked up

+1 , those pesky MP Fuel Injectors....easy to get clogged. I'm pretty sure I have to get mine clean as well, 6 injectors @ 25/piece, not fun.

Or,

Give the MAF sensor a check, and just give the overall throttle body a good cleaning and see how that works. A cheap solution first step versus getting injectors professionally cleaned.

Oh yeah, I forgot the 3300 has a mass air flow sensor. Can't hurt to clean that. Isn't there a special cleaner you have to use though?

Yes, MAF Sensor Cleaner. CRC makes some: http://www.crcindustries.com/hd/content/prod_detail.aspx?PN=05110&S=N

I've seen it at most auto parts stores. If they don't have CRC, they'll have another brand.
