On say a 6 °F ( -14 °C) morning, how many miles (km) does it take to warm up your engine to full operating temperature?
Mine takes about a full 8 miles (13 km), when driving at around 40 mph (65 km/h).
Is it time to change my thermostat....? I can't figure out if it is by-passing a pinch (small hole in it)...and then opens up when needed.

8 Miles is actually quicker than my car does. Its about 15 miles on mine. So I think you are probly fine, my car has the heavy duty cooling system.

mine about 7 minnits of running 8 minnits inst bad at all.
how to tell if your tremastats bad
1) your car take a long time to warm up 30+ minnits
2) you car over heats soon after it get warm. (this happens on trems that anrit made "fail safe" meaning they fail open.
