Greetings All,
I just recently found this site by accident while looking for a starting solution on my injected 2.8 1988 Celebrity. It's already shown me solutions for a short in the courtesy circuit as well as a fix for my oil leak from my distributor plug o ring. Thanks members! Now back to my problem. A few months back, the car was missing badly. The code I got was "ignition noise". The situation eventually got worse and I began to check it out. Since no one in the area could check the ignition module {said it was too old} I broke down and spent 100.00 plus for a new one. While I was at it, I went ahead and installed new plugs and a new wire set. The car was running great again! Since the ignition lock set in the column was original and the key was so worn it would slide out in the "on" position, I installed both a new ignition lock set and a new column ignition switch to avoid additional grief from the 20 plus year old components. Everything was working smoothly for about six weeks. One morning when I attempted to start the car, it was no spark time. The car turns over great, but it is not getting a signal to fire. The crank sensor was replaced several years ago and I'm wondering if maybe heat has done it in again. I've checked fuses and I'm not getting any trouble codes from the ECM. Ideas anyone?

The crank sensor probably won't set a code if it's failed. It's supposed to set a code 19, but it didn't when it failed on my car. Did you replace the coil packs when you did the ignition module?

Sounds like the crank sensor failed again. If you can find someone to put a scanner on it, you can check for crank signal.

Thanks guys. I was leaning in that direction. I'm already into the TBody and associated parts moving things to replace the distributor plug o ring. I might as well jump on to the back and check out the crank sensor. Oh yeah, I didn't change the coils when I replaced the module. I just cleaned them up and reinstalled everything. I'll let you know how I come out with the crank sensor.

I installed the crank sensor yesterday and the car fired right up. Now I have a check engine light again,so I guess I'll dig out my scanner and try a reset. If anyone is about to buy a crank sensor, consider the BWD part from Oreilly. It has a metal mounting tab insert molded into the sensor so breaking the flimsy plastic tab is not an issue. It also has a rolled edge which fits over the block helping to align the bolt hole when you're working 'blind' trying to feel your way around the backside of the block. It's 20.00 with a lifetime warranty. BWD #CSS16
