plug wire

I can't get the spark plug wire to snap in place for cylinder 2 (back side of 3.3) with that metal sleeve in place. I can do it easily without the sleeve. Will I be OK without that sleeve or will the wire get damaged? I tried my best and though I had it in but it wiggled loose 10 miles from home and I had the pleasure of driving home on 5 cylinders.

Thanks. Should I just dump those sleeves all together? There are none in the front side of the engine.

I had those on the rear bank of the Century. I dumped them. No issues.
