Hi to all! I have a problem with my cylinder head gasket. My mechanic said that it needed to be replaced so I looked for a brand that will suffice my need. I came across this Felpro brand and I am just wondering if any of you has already used this brand? please reply for any feedback. thanks!

I second that.
I have put almost 50,000 miles on the first car I did a head gasket job on. I used Fel-Pro.
In addition, I used Fel-Pro on the 3100 Ciera that I sold. (Valve job & head gaskets)

Yep. Fel-Pro is *the* standard in engine gaskets.

Only one I've ever even heard of. I wouldn't even bother trying anything else.

Thanks for the support guys. I will go with Felpro (http://www.car-stuff.com/felprobrand.htm), I will order online. Do you have any known reputable online store? I have linked the one where I will be ordering, is that a good store? sorry for so many questions...

Yesterday my mother in law's car overheated. She turned off the AC and rolled down the windows (she lives in Texas)and the gauge went down. It never stalled, but never went back to normal either. She took it to the shop today and was told she had a blown head gasket. It would cost roughly $600 to repair and was told that due to the type of engine, once it was fixed there was no guarantee it would remain fixed. They said that it could blow again in two days, two weeks, or twenty years.
My question, is this normal?

What engine does she have in her car? There is a known issue with the 3100s when they first came out. There is a revised headgasket that fixes the issue. The revised head gasket from felpro I think it may cost a couple bucks more than the non revised one, but you need to make sure they use that gasket though.

Background:
Some vehicle owners are complaining of excessive engine coolant consumption, or an engine coolant leak near or under the throttle body area of the upper intake manifold. The problem is that the EGR passage melts the upper intake plenum, so that composite material degrades around the EGR stove pipe and could result in an internal or external coolant leak.
If the coolant leaks into the upper plenum it could result in “hydro-lock” of the cylinders, requiring at best, spark plug and oil pan removal in order to free up the engine’s moving parts. This, however, does not correct the problem.
