So, I plan on doing A LOT of driving this summer, considering it's my senior year. I know for a fact that I am going to California and Colorado to help my sister move, etc, and Oklahoma for forth of July, and thats just the stuff my mother wants me to do. I kind of want to go to Florida, too. Anyways, lots of driving. Oatsie needs quite a bit to do this.

1) When I went to Colorado and Oklahoma last year, I got a feel for how it does on long trips. I learned that it just seemed so tired in town after a long trip. I would like to get a good tranny cooler to help the poor thing not melt... Rockauto has 6 choices, ranging from $53 to $101. I don't know how to choose, or if it includes everything, or how to install them though. I just know I would like one, and so would my tranny.

2) I need new tires, bad. I also want 5-spokes. If I get the 5-spokes, what size tire should I get?

Thanks in advance for ANY info...:eek5:

AAA. some tools in the trunk. 3 quarts of oil. thats just for those long road trips trust me its a must.

i would go with FOUR SEASONS Part # 53006
if the over heating is bad
and this on FOUR SEASONS Part # 53005 if you want yours tans to run a little cooler
you can install a Trany temp gauge i think. more qauges always make you car look cooler.......;)

Most definitely... I will have lots of ''just in case" stuff, and we do have AAA. :D

good i can't tell you how many time i have or my dad have had something go wrong on road trips. starters alts. clutchs, hole motors.........lol. even had a fuel line melt (we drive diesel little worrys) lol. the trip from hell the starter soiliond died open. the then a fuel line melted. and i think we had a fasmus wiring short (500k on truck takes it toll on wires ;)

oh a cuplle gallons of water is great to. you can pour it down the sides of the rad so you cna get moveing again if you over heat.

If you have the budget, 5 spokes would look cool. If not, just make sure your tires have tread, and are properly inflated.

Here's what I would do:
Drain and refill your coolant
Change your transmission fluid (drop the pan or flush. Your decision)

Transmission cooler: I plan on buying one this spring. I think any one you find will suffice. you don't want your transmission too cool or too hot.

In my trunk here's what I lug around in a box:

Jumper cables
A jug of coolant
An empty gas can (completely dry!)
A metric tool set
A quart of oil (you can always buy more at any gas station)
A quart of transmission fluid
Bottle of Washer Fluid

**What I still need to get** Any used serpentine belt. It's always good to have a spare, and I threw my old one out by mistake last time!

Good call on the belt. What would I need a empty gas can for? Or were you just stating...

Any transmission cooler will work, as long as it fits and you can mount it. Go to a junkyard and find one. Look around at the different cars. They put them on everything these days. And its not like they wear out! Make sure to get the fittings and a few inches of the hard line to connect the rubber hose.

Heres a link to check out: http://www.bulkpart.com/transmission-cooler.html There are many sites that tell you how to do it, just do a Google search for "how to install a transmission cooler". Its a simple upgrade. And a wise one too.
