alternator question

ok i need to know if i can take a alternator from a differnt year cirea with a differnt motor and put it in my 84 cirea.
only reason im asking is because my alternator went bad today and im going to pull a part tomorrow to get a new one but they dont have any 84's or ones with a 3.0 like mine

This little guy right? If so look for '80s chev trucks and rwd cars as well, they are very common, also very cheap new or reman.

You can go to RockAuto.com and look up the alternator for your vehicle. Sometimes they will have a list of interchangeable vehicles.
