I had some questions about installing a new IAC valve. Should it be installed when the car is at amibient temperature or when the car is operating temperature? I've also had read in one manual that after installation you start the car for 10 seconds, turn it off for 5 seconds then restart for 10, but in another manual it says start it, turn it off, then start it and let it reach operating temperature. Which of these is correct, or is there something else? Also, do you have to pull the battery cable to reset the computer before installing the new one? Thanks fellas!

What year and engine? Usually you can just unhook the battery and install it. The car learns on start up.

yea just unhook the battery, install, start car, put car into drive immeidiatly, and wait till the cars cooling fan kicks on. Shut off the car. restart after 10-15 seconds and put back into drive, wait till the fan comes back on. Idle is relearned

Wow, I have been doing it wrong then... LOL I always started it, let it stall, then fired it back up.

well it may take a few tries to make the car stay running on its own. DO NOT touch the throttle at all when trying to starting the car or while its learning idling.
