Danged Trim!

I have a 88 ciera i had to put a new radio in it. There is a trim peice about 4 inches wide that goes from one side of the dish to the other and contains the vents. There are metal clips that clip on the back of it that hold it into place. When i removed that piece they all unclipped and fell out. Well i put them back on and when i renistalled the trim piece i have to push on it to lock it back and when i do that they snap off again. What should i do to stop it?

Are you positioning these clips in the right place? I last tore into mine to replace the headlight switch last year, so its been awhile, but the clips were facing the dash, you can remove them and bend them a bit so as to make them grab a bit better.
