Curious if anyone has any experience removing the brushed aluminum looking panel that goes around the heater/ac controls, radio, headlight switch, etc. I don't see any screws holding it in at all... so not sure how to remove it.

Removing the headliner from the car was a piece of cake also as removing the rest of the cloth. Now come the foam back. Ho the hell do i remove that?

I'll post the progress here and maybe create an "How-to".

Well today I decided to polish my car and paint the rusty window trim. I'm very impressed with the job I was able to do with these products. I used a "Mothers Power Ball for Paint" in a variable speed drill. For polish, I used "Mothers Carnauba cleaner-wax" on the powerball.

For the window trim, I teped off the windows and paint, then used Krylon semi-gloss enamel for the window frames.

This is the result:

Remember this was a junk-yard find car, that probably has not seen paint since it was built in 1984 (except the trunk lid and header).

Later,

So, aside from the cracked grille, which I replaced, and the usual dents and dings on an old car, the only real damage to my Ciera is the bumper and the light within it:

I don't know the extent of the damage to the underlying structures, but the plastic cover is deformed and the light is pushed in. It still works, it's just shoved in so far you can't normally see it, only the light coming from it.

Not sure how this happened exactly, as I've mentioned before the former owner is a friend of mine, and she said she thinks it happened years ago during prom, specifically from valet parking. She didn't notice the damage until a week or two later, and by then she couldn't be sure when or where it happened.

Anyway, just wondering if this looks like an easy/cheap fix, and if so how I would go about doing it. Never removed a bumper cover before so this is all new to me. If it is going to be a huge nuisance I'd just as soon leave it be, as it is just a cosmetic issue and my car has plenty, this is just the worst.

2nd place goes to the massive ass-print in my hood, someone with a seriously big butt sat on the hood and left two circular impressions in the sheet metal. Either that or it was two people side by side, but the first theory is funnier. :p

Today I went to pull a part and got a used windshield installed for $135. While they were putting it in I cruised the yard and found an earlier Cutlass Ciera with a gray rear lower seat cushion in good shape. I realized a while ago not only that the rear seat in my car was low, flat, thin and hard, but also that there were a diverse range of lower rear seat cushion designs used in a-bodies, pretty much all of which are better than in the 94-96 Cieras. I mentioned the idea of replacing the lower-rear seat cushion in a thread here last summer after a long road trip. Gave the new cushion (I think it came out of a 1990) a good cleaning and put it in... definitely much better--just like the '86 6000 was. And the new seat cushion only cost $9!

The 1996 seat cushion is simply not that substantial. This smells of the same cost-cutting as the 14" steel wheels I swapped for 16" W alloys.

Hello,

I have really nice trim pieces that are still in excellent shape on my dash. My problem is that the pad right below the gauges has started to rise and to rot away. I am not sure why they would put such a cheap fabric type pad on it. Only certain Eurosports and uplevel Celebrities have them. How can I get a new one? Any suggestions? The dealership has nothing for these cars anymore.
