You loose about 1-2 MPG with 4x4. You talking about moving to Colorado? Take it from someone that was born, raised, an will be moving back there shortly... You will wish you had 4x4 then. You mentioned that they rust out and the rear bottom of the cab, have you looked at your current truck? They all do that, Chevy, Ford, GMC, and Dodge. Its the natural splash point from the front tires, and in winter, with the heat from the heater, the snow melts, letting the salt do its thing.

You will SOON SEE young Skywalker.

And you think Ford (and by the way EVERYONE who ever built cars) doesn't use cardboard for their door panels and glue on their headliners YOUR MORE IGNORANT THAN I THOUGHT. What do you think Ford and Dodge do to get headliner materials to stick to the roof UPSIDE DOWN??? :koolaid:

And lastly why dont you see more fords in the yards? Cause there has to be a market for the parts, no one has any that run anymore so the yards would have parts sitting there rotting and not making money off them so why not crush them and get your money out?

Dont forget the reason more GMs are in the junkyards is because there are more of them on the road. GM hasnt been the #1 in car/truck sales for years for nothing you know...

You want to be an engineer, but your brain wont let you see outside of the box that is, in fact, what it is. Until you learn what you are talking about BEFOR you open your mouth, i see you failing as an engineer...

Those are also applicable to most GM's too. Look at a lot of 80's Fords and you will see cardboard door-panels. My Mustang had them. So did my Escort. Come to think of it, my LTD wagon did too.

And wait till you buy parts. An awful lot of Ford parts cost 2 to 3 times as much as their GM counterparts. Its the main reason we sold my wife's 94 Escort GT years ago.

BTW, all of the best Fords (sold in the USA) are actually Mazdas. This applies to the above Escort GT also.

Why does it say alloy wheels! in your signature, last i remember you replaced your wheels with crap and painted them with a paintbrush as they were mounted on the car.

As a matter of fact why are you still here trying to persuade an entire board of GM drivers that our cars suck, at least ours dont look like a friggin moron started trying to do cool things to it but had neither the talent or mental capacity to get anywhere even remotely respectable with it.

Yeah, Tech, Ochy's got a point - you still have both that and the "GM=Good Made" in your signature line, but because you now have a Ford that's in better shape than your GM you are "switching teams" to validate your choice. Rather than having the balls to say "I'm not a big fan of Ford, but it was an inexpensive purchase and I'll use it as my daily for now" or even just "At least Ford's trucks are pretty good", which would both be valid and respectable opinions, you've gone off on a rant about how every GM under the sun sucks. It makes you look not only fickle, but downright ridiculous for spouting off like that while you still have an apparent love of GM and hatred for everything else as expressed in your signature line. Sorry bud, but nobody's going to take you seriously if you can't even keep it straight like that, and the grillin' is sure to continue. :slap:

I grew up around ford trucks..my dads in construction and we had 3 ford vans ( a v6 cargo, a cargo with a 351 and an older passenger van) and a ford truck ( 97? f350 dually). All seemed to do well..whether thats good luck or well made trucks..we never really had too many issues with them besides the steering stabalizer going in the pickup here and there. So Ill say ford trucks are good. But from what Ive personally seen ford and chrysler cars just dont seem to have the best track record.

But how can you denounce our cars? You abused yours, these are tough cars...I think youd have to make an effort to ruine one like you have.

oh god fords have to have the shittiest interiors ever. What the fuck is with the early 90's cars radios, that fuckin giant oval that cost 150$ for a dash kit. Or the HORRID transmissions they put in every car, with No trans cooler. That god awful 3.8 engine that would blow the head gaskets and crack the frail weak blocks, yay. Or the mold that grew in the a/c vent systems, or how about the special tool required to do every fucking thing, even remove the radio. I would rather own a dodge, and i fuckin loath dodges, but i do keep a special spot in my heart for the Turbo models, like the turbo daytons, caravans, spirits. The only thing i can give fords, are that the paint held up way better than the GM and Chrysler cars. And i dont know about you, but at Byrds, the u pull yard around here, the fords have like 6 rows, lol. whiles GM has 3 rows, chrysler has 3, and all the imports have like 1/2 the yard to themselves

there is cardboard in the doors, the plastic quarter panels, the rear deck
CARDBOARD belongs in a box not a car!

82-92 camaro's had cracked dashes in 95% of them
they VELCROED the headliner to the roof
they used wing nuts to hold the tailights in
most gm cars had leaking t tops and sunroofs
my aunt had an equinox, they painted the door panels silver! half of it wore off in 3 years!
remember they cavalier they stuck cadillacs name on it and sold it at cadillac's prices!'
the ciera used the same dash from 1980 to 1996!

Nice rusty doors on your Ford 2 wd truck.

Have you noticed this white stuff on the ground around it? It's called snow. With a 2wd rear wheel drive truck, the chances of you moving the car around in it are pretty slim.... sure the 2wd models are more economical than the 4x4's, due to less weight, but isn't it better to have a car you can actually drive, regardless of it being winter or summer? And recalling your wish to tow a super sized trailer behind your Ciera into the colorado mountains... you probably still have the same death-wish... only replaced the suicide engine with a 2wd Ford. A 4wd is the only logical choice to make if you live in a location where you have snow.

But sometimes logic doesn't come easy to some people.

ANY and EVERY car can break down and become a piece of trash. Doesn't matter what brand it is. If people treat it like trash, it will become trash. You speak of your Ciera as if it was trash... which says more about you than it does about your Ciera.

most gm cars had leaking t tops and sunroofs
my aunt had an equinox, they painted the door panels silver! half of it wore off in 3 years!
remember they cavalier they stuck cadillacs name on it and sold it at cadillac's prices!'
the ciera used the same dash from 1980 to 1996!
who the hell uses the same dash for 16 years!
and all that is just from the top of my head!

Just a couple of questions.....
Why would you put down a vehicle (Ciera) that you own???
If you're gonna bust on a Cimarron, realize that ALL domestic (and a few imports) manufacturers did (&still do) it-INCLUDING FORD!!!....Remember the Granada Ford slapped a Lincoln emblem on?? (the Versailles) How about a Pinto with a formal grille (Mercury Bobcat)??
Most vehicles with T-tops or sunroofs develop leaks, not just GM's......

With age comes knowledge & perspective....maybe in time you'll gain a little of both and realize that ALL manufacturers have strengths and weaknesses...I've owned vehicles from the big 3, plus AMC, Renault, Eagle, Toyota, to name a few, and they ALL had their quirks...when you realize that, and are WILLING to listen to other people's advice regarding these cars, MAYBE you'll be a little better off....or not...

There is much truth in this. The funny thing is, of the 40 or so vehicles Ive ever owned, some of the worst were my favorites!
