View Full Version : My New Ride

Well I just couldn't resist and have always loved these so I found one next to mint condition. I decided to keep my Cutlass too as my daily driver and leave her how she is, she's running great so I thought I should get a car meant to be raced around in, thought I'd share:

That is a nice one! I always liked the old Daytonas. A friend of mine had a VERY nice later V6 5-speed one back in the day. I think it *might* have been a Shelby or Iroc or some such thing....I dont really remember though. What I do remember is that someone pulled out in front of him & it was totalled. He was in tears, & I would have been too!

Yeah, early nineties had the v6's, the higher end was the iroc r/t which is super hard to find. Luckily I found this 200hp+ beast and it's running off a t3/t4 turbo. After some bigger injectors and a bigger inter cooler (its running a stock one) it should easily push 18-20 boost, right now its at 8 but can take 13 safely

nice man! That things gotta move.

You bet, for a little 2600lb car it'll fly! I didn't follow through on the turbo'd Cutlass simply because it started needing a bunch of work, but she's running the best she ever has and definitely not worth getting rid of. Found a larger intercooler with piping all new from a fellow daytona owner on turbododge.com all for like 110

this car books for $1085 and then he wants $4100??
I bet he is lauging... .all the way to the bank

4 grand for a turbo daytona shelby z with a turbokionetic snail..Id say its worth it tech. I was going to buy a daytona with a 5spd no turbo and that thing wasnt too shabby...and Im not a dodge guy.

It's actually quite worth it, with all the performance parts in it and the actual condition of the car. It's got $9k in parts, with records. With a fresh engine too I might add.

Not worth that much IMO either. It is however a pretty nice/rare car and something I would prolly enjoy driving.

The price is high, but it's impossible to find one in the condition it is, I don't have too much time to restore a car with school and all so I had to pay a bit more, plus it runs perfect, no flaws. Most Daytona's I have found for sale have bad head gaskets or leak somewhere and need at least a bunch of work. I'll put some vids up when it comes in

Sent me some better pics:

That's a real nice find you got there...I'm not a Mopar fan by any means, but this Daytona would get me interested!

Gotta Love the T-Tops

03-27-2009, 06:24 PM
I love the t-top and have been searching a long time for one in a good condition, this is the best one you could find and I think it's well worth it. I love Dodges, built ones, new ones I'm a little weary of. I should have a video being sent by the owner today I should post after I get off work. The turbo and BOV sounds amazing, that and the cat back exhaust, this is gonna be mean!

That is a nice find. Any rust or old repairs at all?? My favorite Daytonas are still the early ones without the popup lamps though. Preferably the Maroon/Silver twotone with the Shelby wheels. Just like my old Matchbox car!

MMMMMMMMMMMMM! On another old Dodge note, my local yard just crushed an old Rampage......more good old FWD goodness!

03-28-2009, 01:52 AM
yea man that thing needs some mean wheels/rubber!

03-28-2009, 02:59 AM
It has a quarter sized spot of surface rust by the spoiler, that's all. I am bouncing up and down to get this thing!!

Another round of Tech not knowing exactly what he is talking about...

That is a Shelby Daytona. True, it isnt one of the earlier models with the body underskirts, but with the right mods, that car can easily get into the 11's and 10's in the quarter... Dont beleive me. Well lets see what happens when you take that motor, and drop it in a MINI-VAN!!!

Now thats in a heavier, un-aerodynamic car running a 12.4 1/4 with a turbo 4 banger? Now his daytona, being lighter, and aerodynamic...

Well anyways... Those cars, with the right SIMPLE mods can spank MANY MANY cars. I have seen them at the track beat corvettes, vipers, mustangs, and a plethora of other cars. They are no slouch, by any means..

Was that car worth 4100 bucks? With the mods done to that car, the condition, and the fact they were a limited production car (unlike your escort), hell yes. He could have easily sold that car over on the turbododge forums for probly close to 7-8k bucks.

Now please Tech, learn about the cars you talk about befor you open your mouth. There is alot to know about cars, and learning about them befor you talk. Even if you dont know about them, ask, befor you are made to look stupid.

Thanks for the facts up there ^ I think the next mods are the injectors and larger intercooler, found a decent intercooler kit but I think before all that, while I save up for it, I'm going to let a friend of a friend tune it at the high performance garage at Ranken. Eventually this little ride with be around 300 horses, nothing insane. I loved those vids too!

Here's a video, for some reason he has it only at 5psi, I plan on 15psi easy since they normally run about there anyways:
