I'd put the 3.1 in....it would be a waste not to.

Not that much for something that rare if it was a regular Celebrity that would be outrageous.

And that other car in the picture is NOT a century I hope thats not what hes talking about.

Either way I think that is an ok price if it is in good order OTHER than the engine.

I dont have that much into the purchase of my 2 STE's but in general that is an OK price.

That is a very fair price IMHO. For a VR anyway, not a regular celeb.

Yeah, that's a Regal, not a Century. But $900 for two cars? You can make one good one out of 'em, and one of 'em is a VR? Heck yeah sucka.

That says it all in MY mind. If Mitch or Jeff say so then I would think you cant get a better opinion on the VR's

Yeah I guess its an ok deal I'm just a little biased because I only paid $500 for my car and all it needed was a radiator.

I agree like I said in my first post, I paid UNDER $300 for Each of my STE's The red one WAS running after some injectors and tires. Now I still have to figure out if its the new pump thats bad or the sending unit mount that is impedeing the pump somehow. But I still see the good value in that VR. My STE's were WORTH MORE but I wouldnt have paid more.

That VR is rare these days.. I'd at least look at it and make sure its not a rust bucket.. But it wouldn't be too bad to pop out the old 2.8 and drop in the 3.1..

And I have to Say I have not seen a VR since I was a kid

Why put a 3.1 in when you could put a 3.8 in? Use the 3.1 for something else productive... like a Geo Metro! :D

3.1 WOULD be bad ass in a Metro. But the main reason is a 3.8 is a different block a 3.1 and 2.8 are pretty much interchangable.

I look at that Rare VR, and a 3.8 would be really cool to have in a light car.... But just in the name of keeping it the way GM intended it I would most likely use the 3.1 just for the factory look... But thats just me:)

Considering the 3.8 swap into one of the STE's but really dont want to spend that much money on a car like that. They arent worth all the effort.

How possible would it be for someone to do a 3400 or 3500 swap into one of those.. The 3400-3500 can make some nice power... and the VR is light enough.. And if the car has the GX3 Transaxle it should be some fun:)

I haven't done the swap yet, but I have collected most of the parts to do it. Just about all parts can be found at the yard, I just haven't figured out what to do for a throttle/cruise cable yet but I won't worry about that until everything is in the car. I'm making it hard on myself by doing it to an '86 car. '87-'88 would be MUCH easier and it would almost be a direct bolt-in for an '89. I'm also ditching the GX3 and going with a 282 5speed. My biggest problem though is I don't really want to pull out the perfectly running engine/tranny:rolleyes:
