GM auctioned off a bunch of their vehicles recently...this is one of them.

It is clean...but if you get in an accident....tough shit.

If this is from the auction at Barret Jackson, it is not road legal.

GM to auction some historic cars (http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2009-01-06-GM-auction-historic-cars_N.htm)

General Motors' (GM) cash problems could give car buffs a rare chance to buy some of its most unusual vehicles at auction next week.

Some 200 of GM's one-off and historic models will be sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., to raise what amounts to pocket change for the struggling giant and to manage GM's fleet of historic and unique vehicles. The auction runs from Sunday through Jan. 18.

It was made very pain by BJ that none of the cars were road legal. I even remember an article about how the Govt was worried that people would buy these vehicles & try to put them on the street. This Calais might not have come from the BJ auction though....I went thru the entire list on BJ's website prior to the auction & I do not remember any Calais except for maybe a Pace Car...

I was right....partially! According the the BJ website is was purchased at the Palm Beach 2009 auction for a little over 6800.00. The vehicles at the Scottsdale auction last year wete NOT road legal, but apparently the ones at Palm Beach WERE! Still not worth 11K though....

Road legal...maybe in US.

In any event, I would have to see the specific reason why Scottsdale auction had vehicles that were not road legal.

In my state, I can tittle a vehicle so that it will never be on a highway again...it can be used for parts, but not roadable anymore.

Good find on price....I knew it was in Florida, but did not find an URL to point there.
