This one looks like a winner. Have a look. It's $1500, 77K miles and a 1985

Looks like a good straight southern car! I might be interested but I already have too many project cars!

Hi David! Would you know the difference in MPG and performance when comparing an a-body with 1. The diesel engine vs 2. the 2.5 Tech 4 engine?

I'm wondering if the diesel is worth looking into. I like the idea of a 1985 Celebrity diesel wagon converted over to Eurosport trim and handling specs.

im going to check my gas tank after 200 miles and see how much fuel i've used.....im guessing it should be in the 38 range

From what i have read they get like 30ish at least, and 2.5's get about 28ish maybe 30. Diesel parts may be harder to come by, but there way cool, i Will snatch one up when i finally find one local

Couldn't vouch for the milage of an A-car diesel. Haven't driven my Century diesel coupe enough to know yet.

A friend had a large RWD Olds 88 with the 5.7 diesel. He got mid 30's with that, running the A/C.

Interesting. Thanks for the MPG feedback. As I recall the 1985 Celebrity diesel was rated 35mpg by the EPA (adjusted a little lower now with the new guidelines). I think my '89 tech4 celebrity was rated at about 29mpg. Looks like a diesel would be worth considering.

I "think" that the diesel is lower horsepower however. Late '89 saw a 12 hp increase for the tech4.

the diesel does have a lower horse power rating but the toure is off the walls. with 3.56 gears and 1.24 for 3rd in my trans i cant move just about any ware doing 30 (including light hills (putting my revs about 1800-2000) it a lot better with the 4speed this man gear box puts all hte normal speed limits (50, 35, 45) right around the 2000rpm range.

I think if you could tow a camper with the diesel A-body you'd a have a great energy saver for vacations!
