I have just bought a 1978 Chevy Monza wagon. I plan on compleatly redoing everything from a custum fiberglass interior with racing seats. I plan on it being black with a black and white interior and Yenko stripes. (Ill post drawing of what it will look like soon)I plan on swaping the underpowered 4 with a GM Quad-4 and a S-10 five speed. Dose anyone know were I can find a cheap doner car with a quad-4? Under $300.

wow thatll be interesting, Quad 4 in rear drive. If ur asking what cars had them, All the N body cars, some Grand Prixs, Cutlass Supremes but they didnt get the HO version.

Do you know what cars(and years) had the HO?

I thought the HO Quad was simply the DOHC 2.4L Quad version of the SOHC 2.3s available in the N bodies? besides, I'm not sure if the QUads would fit onto a RWD transmission bellhousing; as i think it was based on the FWD 4 cyl trans?

No the Quad-4 is its own engine, the SOHC has nothing to do with it. The Quad-4 had a standered 170ish hp and the HO had 180 HP due to revised cams and increased compression to 10:1. The Quad wont bolt up to the S-10 trani until I buy a aftermarket bell housing from Quad-4rods.com.

Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais and Achieva SCX, Pontiac Grand Am, Chevrolet Beretta and the 1990 Cutlass Supreme International had the HO, with an even hotter version in the Calais 442. Good luck finding one though.

Thats cool, one of the guys in highschool bought a new 74 or 75 Monza with that little IIRC 260 V8 and a 4 sp, it was about the hottest car around... if he knew how to drive it. So I have a bit of a attachment to those old H bodies and wouldnt mind a Buick or Olds version, maybe with a turbo 6 or the little Olds V8... didnt they make a 260 ?

Mantapart might have some HO's sitting around.

How about going for one of the ecotechs ? They should be common for years to come and should be a better motor.

How about a 3800 from a late model Camaro ? Lots of potential from a donor car there.

Im pretty sure there are easier ways around than to try gettng the QUad (Duke, whats the differences between the HO and ordinary QUads?)

Seconding the Buick V6. Gobs of torque, good power, plentiful, came in RWD with a manual. It'll be fantastic in a car that weighs six hundred pounds less than its donor.

76 Skyhawk, its the back of these bodies that I enjoy, been a fastback man since I saw my first 66 Mustang fastback and the 67-68's were even better

buick 6s is a very good platform, and what about putting in a Rover v8? (basically the same as the old buick 215s)

Well nobody puts quads in Monzas and they are really cheap to build and make alot of power, ecotechs are really expensive and hard to find.

For some reason that looks like a Vega to me, must be too long since I saw a RWD H body wagon cause Im having a hard time picturing one.

Yenko stripes are tasteful, but I would not feel the same about applying the name as well.

Stripping is a tuff call today being how it has gone out of fashion.

Hey Turbobuick88, if you're still wanting to go with a Quad 4, I found this on craigslist. I think it's in Colorado?
