I have an 85 celebrity. it has a cable shifted clutch setup with the muncie 4 speed. i hate the cable clutch feel, so i want to convert it to a hydraulic clutch pedal setup from a later year car. the 85 fiero's had a clutch master cyl and slave cyl setup with all the mounting hardware i needed, BUT the pedal and master arent interchangeable really, just the slave cyl, pushrod, clutch arm, etc..

basically to make this work, i need the hydraulic clutch master cyl, reservoir, and pedal assembly from an A-body car, and the slave cyl and tranny brackets from an 85 fiero with the 4 speed muncie, and i would have to fabricate a custom line to go between the master and slave....

so, what i need are the i need the hydraulic clutch master cyl, reservoir, and pedal assembly from an A-body car...doesn't matter if it is a 5 speed ( i dont think any 4 speed muncie a-bodies had ayhdraulic pedal setups, but i could be wrong..)

anyone know of a source for these parts besides a long-shot stab in a junkyard??

please write or call:

Mexico. Seriously. The Chevrolet Cutlass, which is essentially a Cutlass Ciera, was optioned with a manual a lot more often than its American counterparts. I heard that around 1-2% of Celebritys and 6000s were ordered with a manual transmission. Finding one in the States is going to be quite the task.

That said, I bookmarked a site a while back called manual-transmission.com (http://www.manual-transmission.com/) that may have what you need. A quick search shows they at least have a listing for an A-body manual transmission.

The master/slave/reservoir assembly is still available new from a seller on ebay. I think you can use the arm for the release bearing from a 282 5 speed. The pedal would be a needle in a haystack.

well then, does anybody have a clutch pedal from a mid to late 80's A-body hydraulic clutch pedal setup?

If you're still looking for a clutch pedal for a Celeb, go to http://car-part.com and do a search for parts that would have been specific to a manual transmission Celebrity or 6000, like the steering column. Searching for the drive axles will net you MANY Fieros, and it'll be a tedious weeding project to pick out any A-bodies. I've found several on there over the years, and that's about your best bet. Once you do the search, start making some phone calls to find out if any of the yards still have the cars that are listed on car-part.com. I've found that many yards seem to keep their inventory pretty up to date, but be prepared for disappointment for such a rare part.

The eBay seller/auction that was referred to for the clutch hydraulics earlier in this post is this one: http://search.ebay.com/370398850669. Here's a link to the seller's store: http://stores.ebay.com/Neosho-Surplus-Auto-Parts.

Also, just so you're clear on the stats, all A-bodies prior to '87 that were offered with a manual transmission had the Muncie 4 speed and a cable-operated clutch. This was only available with the 4.3L diesel V6 or the 2.5L 4 cylinder. For '87 and '88 you could only get a 5 speed Getrag with a hydraulic clutch and only in a Celebrity or 6000 with the 2.8L V6. After '88 no manual transmission cars were offered to the public in Canada or the US on any A-body line.

ok.. so i guess i will need the slave from an 84-86 fiero with the muncie 4 speed tranny, and the master + pedal assembly from an 87-88 celebrity or 6000 with the 2.8L and 5 speed getrag or isuzu 5 speed??...

obviously getting all the engine bay parts are easy enough on ebay judging from what you guys have showed me, so now i just need the pedal assembly from ANY A-body setup that has a hydraulic clutch setup, not a cable operated one....

the search continues!

anybody have a spare hydraulic clutch pedal assembly they want to ged rid of for some money?

thanks for the updated information guys...

If someone were willing to loan one out, I'd give it my best shot to build some copies. I'm pretty sure I could do it.
