This really is a rare Omni. It's the 2 door like the Chargers/turismo's. They only made 1,952 of these between the 2 years. http://southbend.ebayclassifieds.com/cars/syracuse/1980-dodge-omni-detomaso-4-speed/?ad=6465084

I REALLY WANTED ONE OF THOSE when they came out. I haven't seen one on the road in 20 years or more. Very nice decorative package - next bext thing, maybe better, to a 1982 Dodge Charger (return of the Charger name). Thanks for posting!

Wow, there were that few of them?! The neighbors just down the street from where I work have a really clean one, they drive it everyday. A little surface rust here and there, but it's pretty solid underneath.

If your neighbor ever wants to sell it call me. 612-708-8015. Speaking of the 82 Charger 2.2- The Shelby Charger I converted to rear wheel drive is going to be redone to look like that. I have the correct body parts to get it done. I always liked the 2.2 with the hood scoop/fender scoops/ and the older (79-83) style rear spoiler.

I always liked the Dodge Omni and its related cousins. A cool thing about them (that not too many peeps know) is that it is a car that was originally designed in France (Simca then Peugeot) and built in America but originally powered by a German engine (VW). Now THAT is a World Car! Take that 1981 Ford Escort!!

I'd love to find a first year model with the woodgrain side trim, the VW motor, and the 4-speed stick. Hard to find the older ones. You see pristine 84-90 models all the time from the "America" program with the 2.2 and 5-speed or automatic. And those are great in their own right. But I want the VW one.

Very cool. Reminds me of the Shelby Daytona that my old girlfriend's dad had for his DD... It was a bit rough but still cool to see it on the road every day.

There's a Shelby Lancer on eBay in like Tennessee right now. It's a $400 parts car and it's pretty rough but not incomplete. Has the special steering wheel and everything still on it, the Shelby valve cover, lacy wheels, all that.

I had a 1990 Shadow America that I wrecked in 1993 driving back to NC from NY. Pushed it too long and fell asleep.
