This is how the '84 basically was all over it before, except it had side trim and such. Also did 90 front end pieces on it too to bring up the look some, hahaha.

How it is at the moment. I'm slowly shaving off all the trim. All roof rack components are gone, shaving the rear handles, and doing a metal roll pan fit on the back instead the (imo) bulky rear bumper.

I tinted the windows also today. 2.5% on the back windows, 20% on the drivers and front passenger window. And those rims aren't staying. 100 spoke wires with black spokes, in 16" size, all flush and a slight stretch perhaps too. ;)

Paint is just a satin black, not technically a primer, but a rust preventative/sealer/primer combo thing... But it works. It's all just spray canned on there atm, gonna get a compressor and gun in the future when all the body work is done and go over it with better grade satin black, and wet sand. ;)

That there is some nice work. I like the rims on it black better than I did when it was grey. Keep us posted with pictures please.

Nice job. Flat black isn't really my thing, but you took the time to do it properly. It looks good

Hey, thanks guys. I'm located in NE Washington, about an hour and a half North from Spokane, in a little town called Colville. Those rims are LesSchwab specials. They are quite literally, everywhere in my town.... that's why I want new ones. As for the spokes, in 16's I don't think it would be that bad honestly, but I just want something different, but when I paint the centers black, they might grow on me more.

Also, Slim, it's not technically flat black, it's satin. To me it;s like; Flat - Matte/Satin - Gloss - etc.

It reflects more than flat would, but not near as much as gloss. I rather like it. =)

Roof hasn't been done yet because I need the old roof rack bolt holes welded shut. I also would love to do a full slide back rag top, but who knows.

These say American Racing on them, so just search on Ebay or something. You could find them for next to nothing on the price chances are.

I like the color. I had a dodge shadow I "matte" finished w/ a rattle can orange. Worked well and was able to handle the weather nicely.

One question though, why the 90 front end? IMO the '84 Euro front end looks better. *Points to avatar*... but I guess I'm partial. :)

Well it wasn't the Euro front, just normal. But it was old and crappy looking, so I just wanted something else.

I definitely agree the '90 front end was a great decision!

I've decided to wrap the stick plastic interior pieces in black vinyl, and redo the headliner as well. Dye the carpet, and fab up some brackets for some first Gen. Acura Legend bucket seats. =)

A little I'd suppose, lol. I don't think the satin black will be the permanent color though, I was thinking like a dark cherry/cranberry red metallic, with some chrome accents.

I'm also going looking for the bumper from a 90's Century to stick on there with the Celebrity heads, so I'm going to go take some measurements to see how close it'll be.

Actually, does anyone here know how the fitment would be? I looked at them side by side, and I think the Century bumper would fit snugly under the 90 Celebrity heads, which would make for a cleaner look.

Any input would be great here. :)

Bump from the dead!

Decided to paint it yet again, but take my time and spray it the right way.... With a HVLP gun!

Still need to finish the tint, paint the wiper cowl, and under chin cowl.

That looks really nice, glad you went with an HVLP... I think the window tint is going to really add a great touch to it. What paint did you use btw?

looks good, but it looks odd with the side panels missing, but beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder

century and ciera bumpers will not look as good on there.....may i suggest a Pontiac 6K SE or STE bumper? as they are somewhat more similar to the Celebrity's bumper, but entirely covering the metal backing....(on certain 6Ks i think most...) and would be a far cleaner look.....:)

When I painted my mother's '86 Euro sedan bright red (yes, one of the "spray paint" cars), I also painted the chrome bumpers. Other than being spray painted, it looks fantastic, IMHO.

Hot Rod Flatz is a great paint to use for the matte/suede look.
