    Piston Displacement and Torque

    by 6000 SSEi

NOTE: Every engine no matter the size, weather a 50CC chainsaw or a 3300 makes the same HP as it does Torque at 5252 RPM. So from that you can find HP of an engine at its RPM. To find the HP that the engine is making at a certan RPM use this formula.

    TQ X RPM / 5252

    Example.
    165 TQ X 3000 RPM = 495000 / 5252 = Approx 94 HP
    300 TQ X 15000 RPM = 4500000 / 5252 = 856 HP

Piston Displacement will be knows as PB.

Bore - The cylinder size (Diameter)
Stroke - The distance the pistion travels from BDC to TDC.

    BDC - Bottom Dead Center
    TDC - Top Dead Center

    PB = (pie) 3.14 x R(2) x Stroke x # of Cyls.

    For example...
    Bore - 4"
    Stroke - 3.56"
    Cyls - 8

Got a guess on CID? Well heres the answer..

    3.14 x 2(2) x 3.56 x 8

    PD of 1 Cyl. = 44.71
    PD of 8 Cyl. = 357.7

Fact - 1 Gallon of gas required approx 9000 gal of air.
