Block drain plug 3.1

I want to get the dex cool out of my century. Is there a plug I can drain the block? 2000 3.1

I don’t believe so, except freeze plugs which I wouldn’t mess with. What I like to do is remove the thermostat, put the housing back on. Disconnect the radiator hoses and blow water through both ways with a garden hose. Through the radiator too. Can also disconnect the hose to the heater core up front and blow water through there too. Stick the hoses back on, fill it up, run it for just a little bit to stir it up, drain it again. Once it comes out clear, I physically blow on the hoses and push most of the water out. Then put it all back together and fill up with your choice, I prefer the original green.

Thoroughly flush all parts of your engine, radiator, heater core, everything. When you think it clean, flush it three more times just to be safe. Dexcool turns into jello when mixed with ethylene glycol.

I will get that done. Thanks for the response. I’m running scared that dex is going to grenade my intake gaskets. I like green also

The stock plastic intake gaskets do a fine job of failing on there own, no DexCool needed, lol. When they do eventually fail, buy the steel body version of the FelPro gaskets and you will never have to worry about them again.

Dexcool has nothing to do with gasket failure. Its just the nature of the beast on the 3100/3400.

It's not even really due to the 3100/3400 design. It's simply due to the plastic bodied gaskets. All the heat cycles do them in. All GM engines in the 90's-early 00's with plastic bodied gaskets had failure issues.
