    Subframe bushings

    Hey everyone,
    My engine subframe bushings look ok but I'd like to get an extra set for the future. Can't find anything anywhere for the A body. I've read on here that 2 out of 4 Pontiac Fiero bushings work. And that late 90's w body bushings are a fit. Just wondering if anyone has replaced theirs? The Dorman kit for a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina has 4 pieces for rear mounts. 2 metal brackets, 2 rubber bushings. 5 pieces for front, 2 brackets and 3 rubber bushings. The service manual appears to show 2 rubber and 2 metal brackets front and rear. I guess get 4 kits of rear bushings from the w body for the A body?

    You could just look in the fiero store and get the polyurethane ones in red or black for the rear cradle the fronts usually hold up fine . It’s hit or miss finding them I wound up snagging a 96 low mileage and pick them up at a junk yard the rears I swapped over to polyurethane it’s about 50 bucks and u get two extra fiero bushings

      That's a nice looking installation! Any squeaking coming from the bushings? I've heard polyurethane stuff might do that. I'll probably go the same route. Keep an eye out at the scrap yard for good looking ones. I'm sure it'll take awhile but I'd have them when I'd need them.

        No sir quiet as ever for the rear ones . The front bushings I look for the a-body in the junk yard and look at the front no cracking they come home

          The only point of mind to remember with the rear polyurethane bushings is to check the tightness of the long subframe bolts. When I had my old turbocharged Cutlass Ciera I would notice those bolts would back off on me from time-to-time. It was a simple check with a breaker bar each time I'd change to oil to keep everything together.

          The subframe bolts are quite long and fine thread. The addition of a belleville washer between the bolt head and the large 'bushing washer' might work to prevent the bolts from backing off. This likely occurred on my car due to the much higher torque from the turbocharged 3300 and the polyurethane bushings deflected less.
          What is this & what does pulling it out do?

            I will keep that in mind I checked them before I put a steering rack in 2 months ago and were tight as hell
