A rare option???Electric dual outside mirrors

Of all of the information about the Century GS's I have, none have the one option that my #4 has. All have the UPC code D35 O/S dual mirrors, but this one has option DG7 Sport Elec Mirrors. Too bad the glass is broken and the black plastic piece you glue the glass onto on the driver side. Are these common on other models? I need to add this to my list to look for at the U Pull it next week.If you look at the switch on the door panel,it looks similar to the standard knob, except there i an arrow to switch between the left and right mirrors. I didn't even know this was available on the GS's,let alone mid 80's cars.

Our old 95 Ciera had those.....I would look at the newer A-bodies for replacement parts, I think it was a more common option later on.

I was figuring on looking at the 92-93 year cars to see if they had this option. Not a huge deal, but I kinda like it.Just odd that I have several buildsheets and only this car had it.

You could get them on the 6000 around then too. They seem to be pretty common on the '94-'96 A-bodies. Common enough that I could pick and choose to get the nicest pair in one outing at pick-n-pull.

Pat - I'm quite surprised to hear you've got the power mirrors. I know that very few '80s A-bodies got the power mirrors. My '89 International doesn't even have them (but it's getting them) and it's got almost everything else, including a power sliding moonroof!

The power mirrors are VERY common, actually. Look for '89+ Centuries as lots of these had the power mirror setups. I just pulled a complete setup from my wife's wrecked '92 Century, I got another setup from a '94 Century I scrapped, and I pulled a driver's mirror from an '86 STE a few years ago. I also have a handful of the joysticks and associated wiring harnesses, so if you need anything... I've never seen a Celeb with the power mirrors, and I don't recall seeing too many Cieras with them either. As for the 6000s, it was mostly the higher models that got them, like the STEs as was pointed out in an above post. Regardless, you shouldn't have much trouble finding a good set.

We did a post on here recently about how to remove the mirrors from the doors (and how to install them, IIRC). Post if you need a refresher in this and can't find the previous post. Lastly, my local yard always has tons, and I've got at least a couple sets myself if you're in desperate need and can't find 'em locally.

SUGGESTION: If you are going to get a set from the wreckers, take a battery with you if possible to hook up to the car and try to mirrors before you buy them if you can - sometimes the motors can get loud, or they get sticky and move erratically. Finding a smooth pair shouldn't be too much of a hassle, as they're not really problem prone, but it's always nice to get a good set on the first go.

That's quite surprising to hear! I know I saw an '86 STE or such on eBay quite a while ago that had the power sliding sunroof as well, and I think it had the power mirrors. It's quite something to think of these options being available over 20 years ago - almost 25 in your case, Oatsie!
