Hi, I'm Duke George V. You might remember me from such forums as a-body.net and (as LeftVentricle) on 60degreev6.com. I've been here for some time, since late '05 or so, shortly before I bought a 1990 6000 LE. It has an Iron Duke, hence my screen name. My name is Daniel, and I live in Las Vegas, NV, thousands of miles away from most of you reading this.

I currently own a 1989 Celebrity CL wagon purchased from former moderator RhettFar, with just over 82k miles. It was quite the excursion, and I won't go into any more detail because I have before, but it's not over yet. It's currently at a shop getting the following daunting list of parts replaced:

-Radiator
-Fuel injectors
-Alternator
-Everything relating to brakes at all four corners
-Front strut assemblies
-Rear shocks
-Rear wheel cylinders
-Left side CV axle
-Transmission mounts
-It's also getting a transmission service and oil change.

I ran it at Midnight Mayhem at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on June 15, 2007, not two weeks after I bought it, and my best was 18.4 @ 70 mph. Hopefully it'll do a little better after these repairs, and better still once I get some new, wider wheels and tires (currently running economy 185's).

Hello, my name is Mike and at just about 52 I think I’m the old man on this board, but this looked like the place for hooking up with A-Body drivers so I signed up.
I’ve been playing with cars since 1974 so I know my way around them pretty well and I’m into Buicks and Buick powered vehicles. By profession I work with Pro Touring audio equipment, specifically amplifiers, so working with automotive wiring is not a problem for me.
I picked up my 1993 Century Wagon in early December off E-Bay down in Richmond, VA. Took the train down, picked it up and drove it home no problem. It has 139000 miles but still looks good and runs and drives great.
I needed a driver to replace my ’83 Regal Wagon (which is being picked up by its new owner from Dayton, OH this weekend) and this car is just what the doctor ordered. The 4.1L 4bbl in the ’83 ran smooth but was a dog and didn’t get great gas mileage with a three speed trans. It still was in good overall shape but a new paint job was soon necessary.
The ’93 is still looking good and is rust free. It has the fuel injected 3300 and O.D. so I picked up a lot of power and gas mileage. I’m getting a real 23 mpg out on the highway.
I got some custom tags for it “WAGOON 2” although when I ordered them I forgot this is my third WAGOON, the first being an ’86 AMC Eagle.
I figure I’ll be doing some mods to the car. I already installed my Pioneer CD and 4x6 speakers in the dash and I’m awaiting some Kenwood 6x9’s for the hatch.
This past weekend I upgraded the speedometer to a 110 mph unit. Check out my other post on that.
For now I installed a set of Yoko Aegis 195/75-14 tires and they work great in bad weather but I’m thinking a wheel and tire upgrade and maybe some lowering is in the wagons future. I liked Turbokinetic's turbocharger setup and his car has me thinking I might have to do a HP upgrade down the line.

Introduction

HI y'all. I'm from Calgary, Canada. I'm 26 years old and I'm the vice-principal of an adult ESL school. I've always owned GM cars. My first car was a 1988 Buick LeSabre Limited (silver). I own an '89 Buick Century Custom (140,000km) which is parked inside, and my current driving car is The Priestmobile, an '89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera (156,000km). Both metallic blue. I take great care of my automobiles although I don't know much about the mechanics, I'm learning, hence why joining my website. My olds is starting to rust around the typical places. Wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to deal with that short of buying new panels. I've attached pics of my cars below.

Welcome aboard! Nice looking cars but that Century looks COLD in the snow. I know rust is a problem for folks in areas using ice melting agents. Don't see how y'all keep cars together up there!

Actually the Century recently had a new paint job, it's flawless and rust free, the Olds is starting to rust around the rear wheel well, It's too damn bad, because the rest of the car is flawless with low mileage.

Hi!

I'm Tyson, known on here (and many other message boards) as GMFWDFAN. I love cars (and trucks, and vans, and SUVs) - I have since I was a small child.

When I was 15, my grandfather (a used car dealer) purchased a 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport sedan with 23,xxx original miles. That was in mid-2005, IIRC.

This car was flawless, complete with every factory option Celebs could've had in '88. After a long period of TLC, the Celebrity was literally a new car. My grandad had it fully detailed inside and out. He also had the paint touched up (bumpers were fading), and the engine cleaned and re-cleaned. He put new tires on it (the factory ones were dry-rotted

) as well. Then he parked it in his garage, and let it sit. I began to think it was going to be my first car, and my grandad did nothing to dis-prove my suspicions.

So I got all excited and messed with that car every time I visited my grandad. And then, he sold it.

Then my obession switched from that Celebrity to Chevrolet Berettas. I loved Berettas. I wanted one so badly that I literally begged my grandad to find me one. So he found me a 1992 Chevrolet Beretta Base model, with 71k miles and the 2.2/3-speed combo. It was in rough shape, but after the same kinds of TLC the Celeb got, it was looking new again. I took it, and loved it. I added GTU ground effects, GT spoiler, complete new audio system, tinted windows, and GTU wheels. I put 11k miles on that car. But eventually it started to nickel and dime us to death with new problems every other week. Some months that car was at the mechanics more than it was with me.

So, in April 2007 we found my current car, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 that I have named "Arnold." The Beretta was sold for $1,700 with 84k miles and all of its aftermarket parts. The Grand Am was bought with 103k miles for $4,500. My Grand Am is the top-of-the-line GT1 trim, with EVERY factory option offered on the 1999 Grand Ams. It was meticulously cared for by the previous owner, and I continue that tradition. The summer of 2007 I had the following done: complete tune-up (new plugs/wires and cleaned TB) coolant flush, tranny fluid change, multiple oil changes, and a new fuel filter. I've also added tinted windows, red "GT" badge overlays, red "PONTIAC" front and rear bumper inlays, a red "PONTIAC" windshield banner, and red/black floormats and steering wheel cover to complete my red/black theme.

The Grand Am now has 114k miles and is still a great car, but I love all GM FWD products. Especially A-bodies. I know in my heart that if my grandad would've given me that Celebrity that I'd still be driving it today.

The young girl that bought the Beretta blew the tranny a month after she got it. It slipped the whole time I owned it, but I adjusted and drove it accordingly, so we had no issues for the year and 11k miles I drove it.

Hi, my name is Andy. I don't have any good pictures of the Olds right now. When it gets to the spring time I will. I'm 25, married with a 1 yo son and another son on the way. I work for the local courthouse.

My Cutlass is in great condition. I only have about 54k on it now and plan to keep it for the next few years since my wife and I had to file bankruptcy recently.

Long story short, we got caught up in the whole sub prime debacle.

I see a lot of members having problems with rust. I don't have any right now and I garage my car. I obviously want to prevent this. What is the best proactive measure?

I am the second owner (first being Grandmother). The car has rocker and door rust but is mechanically sound and runs better then my '97 Grand Cherokee. I love this car. It was purchased in June 1985, I was born in June 1985. I want to restore it ASAP and was hoping this forum could tell me where to find panels or a quality shop in the area to do the body correctly. The interior is MINT and so is the drivetrain.

Okay, now I'll finally get around to doing this. My name's Mitch, I live in Northwest Arkansas and am currently a junior in high school. It's been said that I look as though I'm on drugs. Quite strange though, its as if my peers haven't met someone with a melancholy personality. Here I am:
I'm seventeen and am pretty sentimental about my Oldsmobile. It's a 1990 Cutlass Ciera Sedan, as I'm sure everyone here knows. It's got new gaskets in the top end of the engine. I will say I owe a lot to everyone here for their help. Enough talk, here's the car.

Nice pictures! You get the car painted yet? I remember when several of us (tried to) give guidance when you were working on the rough running problem. Glad that is fixed, and glad to feel like I helped.

Your picture doesn't look drugged to me? Don't be so hard on yerself!

One of my friends is quite melancholy. Surprisingly, he and I get along real good though I'm completely opposite... prone to giggling at anything, have always been hyper and hate to sit still...

Another new n00b here.

Hey, I'm Rob. I'm 21 years old and I'm from Columbus, Ohio. I'm a college student by evening, a Security Officer at the states largest hospital by night, yea I work third shift, for that reason youll see me online at all hours ofthe night at times. any who, heres my ride

1988 Chevy Celebrity 4-door, 2.5 liter. Blue interior, AMFM, power nothing. I bought the car in August 07 for $1400 cash. I bought it as is and it had 54K miles on it, a Carfax report states that those are in fact original miles (It belonged to the wife of the previous owner, she refused to drive it because it was quote "old and ugly") A tiny bit of rust can be found on the inner the rear wheel-wells. It hs very little body wear, a few dings and scratches here and there but other wise its in immculte shape. Its been my daily driver ever since, tack on a few road trips I took in it and now its up just over 60K. I originaly bought it becase it was cheap and i needed some quick wheels (the 92 Bonneville i had finally took a dump after 210K) but have fallen in love with my C-Leb(as i like to call it) and i plan on keeping it for awhile. I got a few plans to get the minor problems fixed before i get down to work in making my A-body an A-beauty. I havnt quite decided what exactly im going to do with it, but ive got several ideads floaing in my head, I hope nobody gts upset if i borrow ideas from yall, (like whoever boltd the Trans-Am spoiler on his Celebrity, jut FYI man, im probbly gonna swipe that idea from ya lol) But its good to know theres other enthusiest out there when i need some help.Ill be around, holla atcha boy!
