Got the passenger side seat in. Turns out they were actually seats from a grand prix and they also bolt straight to the track. I am; however, having a problem with the front/back seat position arm not locking into place? Could use some input on fixing that. Maybe it just needs cleaned up.

Also got the seat part of the passenger seat cleaned up quite a bit with my bissel green machine, lookin pretty nice. Might have to post a picture once I'm done getting these all cleaned up and in, if anyone is interested...

Thanks guys. Yeah, I've considered leaving here, and I certainly wouldn't be the first. The amp and subs in my Ciera came from an old friend who moved to Boston last year, and I almost went with her. And a woman I dated a few years ago recently relocated to Oklahoma. The only thing keeping me here is family, I don't know how I would handle a new place without them.

I actually took my Ciera out for a little bit, a good friend of mine underwent knee surgery and can't drive for a while. So I took him various places so he could get some errands done. The extra legroom afforded by a split bench allowed him to sit much more comfortably than he could in his own car, which like most newer cars has buckets with a console.

Wasn't my car, but a coworkers company car is a 94 Century. Got a call from her that she was stuck at a gas station. I guess on the toll way the car would only get up to 60 and was revving really high and when she stopped there was smoke from under the hood. I went to pick her up, and while waiting for the tow truck I took a look under the hood. When she started it up I saw a stream of trans fluid from the line going into the transcooler. So she thought she was getting a replacement, but I'm guessing it will be back on the road in a day or two.

Today I lent it to my brother. This is not uncommon, I'm unemployed and so my car gets loaned out to family members who are still working. What was unusual is the reason. I guess my mother took my brother's keys when she left for work, along with her own. She used to have the same car, and thus identical looking keys, so I suppose it was an easy mistake to make.

Until I can wrangle some U-van springs, I've put a couple rubber spring boosters in to help out the rear springs. Don't worry, they aren't the hour glass shaped ones that pop out over speed bumps, they are the donut type that thread in. Also learned the process of removing the rear springs without a spring compressor via dropping the entire axle and having quite a fight with the torsion bar. Ended up putting two boosters on the drivers side cause these tires are hitting against the plastic fuel shaft guard. Gonna buy two more maybe tonight for the passenger side. Really firmed up the ride.

Made the final decision the Cutlass has to go to a shop. Started this semester off with an hour-and-a-half bus journey to go all 10 miles to campus. Woo.

I'm absolutely convinced the problem is the crank position sensor, but I'm done messing with it. The bus is awful, and there were tornadoes about today. Not a fun bus transfer. Mother called 20 times from work worried sick I'd been blown to OZ from the transit center.

The International will be back on the road in just a couple weeks. After 7 months of waiting, I'm super psyched to be piloting the car again.

Today I mounted a suction disc to my dash, right between the climate control and the leftmost passenger side vent. That's one of those black plastic discs that come with GPS systems. They don't work well on modern cars, there's never a flat enough surface for them to adhere to. But I found one in the garage yesterday and realized it would work perfectly in any A-body as our dashboards are so angular and flat.

So now when I travel, I'll have the GPS mounted to the dash instead of stuck way up on the window where it blocks my view and is hard to reach.

Thought about doing that myself as I have one of those black suction discs too for my phone mount. Currently I have the phone holder in the middle of the windshield under the rear view mirror. My windshield has a long crack along the driver side towards the middle so will have to replace it at some point.


As for what I did with my car yesterday now, I did a second OC, drained out the treated oil (4qts plus 1qt MMO) and put on a new Mobil 1 filter and put in the Valvoline Maxlife Full Synthetic HM oil (5W-30). And driving it to/from work yesterday evening/early this morning I am very pleased with the oil pressure reading much higher than it did previously. Short history on that:


When I bought the wagon back in June the seller said that the oil pressure, though read okay was a bit lower than it should. He suggested that I change the oil pump. Usually from my experience the oil pump should last the life of the car, unless the car was seriously abused and neglected the oil changes. But it still worked just fine as it should so I didn't see a need to really replace it. At that time, oil pressure was reading about 50psi at startup, then went down to just under 40psi during driving. At idle (warm days) hovered around 10-15psi.

After I got some oil supplies I got the cheap HM Supertech oil from Walmart and gotten a bottle of the MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil). Seller suggested using the HM Motor Flush to clean the motor but after doing some reading about it I decided against it and went the slower preferred route with the MMO. Doing the first oil change and filter (finding out that the oil filter originally on the car was the wrong size!) and the oil pressure improved a bit by reading near 60psi at startup, slowly dropping to just under 40psi over the course of the commute to work, and at idle was just under 20psi.

Now after doing the second OC yesterday with new filter and oil, plus replacing the PCV valve the startup psi is pretty much 60, during commute is now over 40psi and at idle just over 20psi. Nice improvement! Oil pressure gauge is more responsive now whenever I accelerate and when I let off the gas, So seems to me that things got cleaned up a bit!

I definitely will keep an eye on the OP over the next few thousand miles and the oil. Either way i am pleased with the improvements on that by far. I definitely intend to keep the car running at its best.

Went to the Pull-A-Part yard and got some goodies for the Woody wagon. Finally got a proper parking brake release (current one is a bike cable with a vintage Italian bicycle derailleur as a handle), original console cup holder (thanks Oklahoma), and some other odds and ends. Unfortunately, I also realized U-van springs will not work with my car as they are pigtailed at both ends and mine are open on the bottom.

Also, finally got tires for the Concorde wheels. I had a couple extra 225/60/16 tires sitting in the basement that were almost new, so I got a matching set of 205/55/16 tires for the front. I know, big difference, but it makes the car look like a muscle car almost. Those who know it's front wheel drive will most likely laugh at me, but it's fine. Tires are temporary and it gives the car an aggressive look.

Spent Labor Day driving out into the boonies in the family Fusion. Cutlass is still sitting in front of the shop where to tow truck left it. At least I'm able to get another paycheck in before the car will be ready. I'm not sure they've even taken a look at the car yet. :/

My first post in this thread! My 86 coupe has been sitting since last fall when the fuel pump went out. Today I jacked up the back of the car, removed the fuel filler hoses, and drained 12 gallons of gas out of the tank. I am leaving on a road trip on Thursday so I will probably not do any more work on it for about two weeks as I will be gallivanting aroubd the NYC and Baltimore/Wash DC areas. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for any A-related sightings though.

Still have the intake manifold off, been pulling off various engine lift brackets etc to get the valve covers off. Flushed all the heater pipes as there was some crud buildup around most hose fittings. Figured I might as well pull and flush the heater core, pretty easy job on this car, took all of 10 minutes under the dash. 2 day job on some BMWs I've owned.

Power steering pump is finally off, hard line was on there tight and pressed up against the bracket making it hard to get a wrench on. It was making funny noises so I think I'll just replace it considering how much time I spent messing with it to get it off.

sure i 'll post it tomorrow ... cutty is nice really but ... asu u know tires are 215/65/16 ... and i don't feel that Rest and relaxation in cutty anymore ... i think it 's because of tire size ... i am searching for 205/65/16 now
