Got my '95 smogged last weekend. Passed with flying colors, though I had to find a special shop that does dyno testing (required '95 back to 25 years in my county). The guys at the shop seemed impressed with the car (oldie by a goodie). Unfortunately, the car is leaking oil again at a prodigious rate. Working fast to get my S10 road worthy again (galled front wheel bearing). Then back to the LIM repair on the '96. Time is always an issue for me.

I thought it was 24 years regardless of county, unless its changed recently. It will be pretty funny once Danielle comes to Texas for inspection...being diesel don't have to worry about smog tests, and it being a non-catalyst vehicle that should be interesting too lol.

          FINALLY!
I started work on the engine swap.
Dismantling the old LG3 engine now to make it easier to take it out. Will do the same with the new LN3 and compare interchangeable parts so I can assemble it again with only the best parts.

1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera "Lady Liberty" - Under (slow) progress LG3 to LN3 3.8 V6.
1979 MG MGB Roadster - Running like a dream.

Yeah, it varies. If I lived a little further from Houston, I would only be subject to safety inspection. I think it's only Houston, DFW, and maybe San Antonio and Austin.

If there were no smog law where I live...THAT'S what would be under my hood...and no dumb distributor o-ring. That thing has got to be quick!

Travis County (Austin) does emissions testing, even though they are not required to by the EPA. Our "enlightened" leaders (trying to emulate the PRK, that is people's republik of kalifornia) wanted citizens to "feel good" about lowering emissions.

Thankfully the 88 Celebrity was exempt due to age. The only emission test back 25 years. Still have some gestapo doing inspections though.

Continued work on stripping the engine bay for the engine swap today.
She almost looked good when I went there this morning, a bit of snow on her and no filler and rust visible.

They are quick - especially when you install a big turbo and 60 Lb injectors ....

                        LOL.

It has been a very rewarding project. The engine has 100,000 miles on it and still runs strong. Once you go turbo there is no turning back. The power is addictive.

First oil change (for the Celebrity under my ownership) and replaced the left rear door weather strips, added the top door seals from a later model Century. Will do the same for the right rear door. Already replaced the LF and RF door weatherstrips. Now looking for the glass run window channels for the front doors. Mine are shot.
Have a small oil leak on the 2.8, not sure if it is the pesky distributor "o" ring or something else. Purchased an intake manifold gasket set and valve cover gasket set to throw on it soon. Whew!
