The New Acquisition 88 Celebrity Eurosport 5 Speed Manual (lots of photos)

Ok the forum has waited long enough, I suppose.

Did I say the previous owners were afraid of vacuum cleaners?

Here is my "frayed" seat belt that made my car fail inspection. Seriously?

Car saw lots of dirt roads, I guess.

Money shot of the trans linkage

Simply amazing! Sure it may need some cleaning, but it looks to be exceptionally "clean" compared to most of these cars still on the road. That car is one hell of a good find!

Thanks for the kind comments. 86 Euro, please let me know about the seat belts as soon as possible. I have until 26 December to reinspect without going through the process again. I think I only need the belts (door side) the receivers/latches are OK. The drivers one could be replaced to make it look better.

Spent the day scouring LKQ in Austin. Found some good stuffs but the seat belts were way more "frayed" than mine.

I see so many possibilities with this car.

Outside - replace all broken/missing trim, repaint in correct silver, repaint all faded black trim. Get the correct lug nut covers (I may have some.) or maybe some later model GM wheels, perhaps from an HHR.
Inside - maybe find a nicer seatcover to replace the driver's side (could possibly use a passenger side seatcover but finding one will be the tough part). Thorough cleaning. Redo headliner and sunvisors. Replace worn brake and clutch pedal pads. New turn signal stalk.
Under the hood - Clean and detail, get the A/C working.
Suspension - new shocks, U-van sway bar, brakes.

As for mods...Well, it would have to have a slew of my brand of mods. The more I look at it, the more I like it!

Congratulations, now we just need to find a Ciera GT.
What is this & what does pulling it out do?

Very nice car! Love manual American cars, just because it's considered strange and they are so damn rare. And because manuals are fun to drive, but hey, here in Europe that's an easy thrill.

Definitely feeling some envy here. How does the clutch feel? Being front wheel drive, you basically have to pull the entire drivetrain to replace it.

EDIT: Saw your other thread with the RPO codes. JA1 means you can use Cavalier or Beretta wheels. I like the 15" five spoke alloys on later third gen Cavaliers, personally. New rear shocks and some 205-65-15 tires would get you some better-than-average handling. These Z24 wheels hit the spot for me: http://images.gtcarlot.com/customgal...s/66270550.jpg

I like those wheels as well! I had the earlier 16" Cav wheels (the 95-99 ones) and it completely changed how the car handles. Another route would be the Beretta GTZ or GTU wheels...if you can find them. I am going to use a set of the GTZ ones that I am going to use on my 86 like this:

Thanks for the wheel suggestions. I will look for those wheels as a future modification. I will have to pick up some tires in the short term to get me by. BTW the clutch feels good. Nice linear action. Just like most other "typical" manuals. I would have worried if it had a lot of "dead" travel before engaging.

IMHO, Beretta Z26 "sawblade" wheels would look REALLY good on the car, especially because it's silver. I may be biased though, since that's what I used to run.
