This weekend we changed the air and fuel filter. The old filter seems to be growing mold so clearly time to change it. The Fuel filter changed didn't go as easily as planned, a little bit of our own stupidity, and a good bit of rust seeming to try and perminantly keep the old connector on the fuel line. But all changed too.

We kind of got a layout for the seat although we are going to talk to the cage builder to see if he might find a way to lower it some or make it better than our simple thoughts. One of our drivers is tall and we are a bit worried about him fitting properly with a helmet.

We also wired up a fan switch. We can now manually turn on the fan, or let it work like normal and have the ecm turn it on.

All we had to do was run a wire and splice it to the wire that runs between the fan control relay and the ecm to a switch, and then from the switch ground.

No climate control, but at least you can still defrost the rear window during winter races.

we still have climate control, its just zip tied now a little bit away. Its also hard set to defoggerers/ heaters, so no vents anymore. Front defoggers we figured may come in important.

Quick update. Car is out getting the cage built. This is probably the most aggravating part, not that it is going to take to long or that I don't trust the guy building it, just that this is the part that we really don't have any control over and I don't get to see the Ciera every morning when I look out my window.

Well, it WON'T be fun since it's in the rules that all glass except the windshield has to be removed.

Actually at the race we are going to we can keep the windows for now. The full race gear is pretty warm, I was sweating with all of it on just standing still. Might need the windows down to just stay comfortable.

It should stiffen up the whole frame but more importantly it should protect us extremely well. Although I'm also glad I picked the glossy black rustoleum. Its a bit thick and our painting was a mess in places but from a distance it at least looks shiny and cool.

We did some more work today. Its now got an oil cooler and an additional trans cooler. Also we took off the lights which looks pretty mean.

we also took off the back bumper cover. So we can have a better look at it how to install the tow hook. It doesn't look as good as the front so we'll definitely put the cover back on.

How much did the roll cage cost?? I'm probably to going to have to at least get an 8 point soon.

Yes it's an Oldsmobile and yes it makes over 450 HP!!

its just a 6 point, and it cost $600 for the cage and another 100 mounting the seat(which we immediatley had to take out of the car to paint the cage but you can see where it goes) getting the seat belt tabs for the 5 point harness and some other odds and ends. Of course the sad part is that the cage was 3 times the cost of the car.

What do you need an 8 point cage for?

Yeah, I did actually mean a 6 point. I'm hoping to run low 11s this fall and if I do they will most likely kick me out so the next time I go back I'll need a cage. This way I'll have all winter to do it.

Skalor, are they REALLY that anal about running below 12s without a "cage"? i mean, the ZO6 vette runs waht, 12s without cages! (or was that the ZR1 blue devil one?)
