I've already run a 12.52 @ 116 on street tires and I was not able being to go full throttle until about half track. I now have a cam and 4 psi more boost so I should pick up nearly 80 whp. That coupled with slicks will net at least a low 11 second ET. According to NHRA rules, anything faster than an 11.49 needs a 6 point roll bar. My track will warn you once, after that you need a roll bar or they won't let you run again. The roll bar I need is not as obtrusive as what's posted here though.

strange. I'd expect the rules to be more of anything over 150 trap speed needs a 6 point bar...o.O

I would think you wouldn't need as elaborate a cage for drag racing. Typically you are far less likely for another car to run into you in drag racing than road racing.

We need the 2 door bars to stop the car that tries to turn into you. The seat has to be braced to the cage for the idiot who rear ends you, and you get a dash bar in case you are the idiot rear ending someone else. The center bar is there to tie the seat into the cage(actually the seat is actually connected only the cage and not the car at all. and then since we could we ran a bar between the rear struts to tie the cage too which is a good strong point and just happens to stiffen the rear suspension(which is important since the rear sway bar fell out of budget for this race) The rules also need the diagonal for side protection and the harness bar since they have a very specific angle range for the shoulder harness and it would be a pain to get it between 0-15 degrees from the floor.

Having a 2 door will allow them to actually make it pretty nice looking, but I think you'll probably have to lose the back seat.

I'm guessing they require something like you'd find on a Jeep? That wouldn't be so bad, but the back seat would suffer if not lost entirely. I just know I'd hate to have to climb over that diagonal bar next to the seat.

Anything over 150 used to need a parachute. They changed that a couple years ago though.

225/50/16. I have to put coil overs on if I want to fit anything wider because the spring perch on the strut would be gone. I should say that I'm severely traction limited. I ran my friend with Mustang on a 100 shot of nitrous on the highway once and he laughed because I was doing rolling burnouts at 50 mph and I still walked him.

so youre telling me anytime a street legal car with otherwise stock everything running 12s or below has to have a cage, regardless of class? I see why not many people drag race their street cars anymore I mean...there''s the Factory Appearing Stock Tires class that apparently goes 11s but that was a couple years ago....

that a mount of force and speed can be lethal to a car and rather bad for a driver...... the cage is there to protect the driver.

note how the cage keeped this drive breathing.....rought guess but this car should be a low 11's car. based on the cut fenders and NOS......im going to the motor was rather built as well.

on a side note FWD get rid of most of the restion this guy crashed

Just had some parts of the cage called into question. Cage builder will fix it. So now I'll just have to freak out till after tech in 18 days. That and go over everything with a fine tooth comb, although I already checked everything else and it seemed good.

The one point was brought up by another team and the other point brought up by me and I sort of knew the answer before I sent it. A third point brought up by a teammate that we have to check but should have a way to fix that easily if it doesn't meet specs.

As I'm sure everyone knows you can't race unless everyone is dressed alike. I guess you could but you would look absolutely ridiculous doing so. ( I can say it know while none of you know the cars future paint scheme which will pretty much show that we will look ridiculous no matter what we wear. )

Anyway one of the teammates friends from college is a graphic designer so we had him make us up a logo and some other stuff, and I played around on one of the t-shirt making sights, and since they pretty much all let you open up a store to sell your stuff, I even did that.

So here is the shirt we made for the race. http://racing4nickels.spreadshirt.co...uxedo-A6577288

And here is our store with other stuff I was playing with http://racing4nickels.spreadshirt.com/

The site was easy to use, and it is cheaper than the other sites doing similiar stuff. And lets you not only sell the shirts but you can set a commission on the graphics you put up and if someone else uses it you'll get money for their stuff too. I'll have to wait and see how the quality is but we ended up setting them up on the heavier shirts, so that with the two sided printing is why it cost more than the shirt with just the logo.

I'll probably play with it more later to make other horribly obnoxious things that no one will ever buy.

Hope to get the detail stuff like race number and some racing stripes done this coming weekend, but over all it looks like it came out good enough for what we are trying to do.

With a field of over 80 cars you need to be sure to stand out. We figure this should help. Plus with the Theme murph and the magictones we want the paint job to atleast sort of resemble this

Or you could get someone to airbrush barney the dinosaur on it... sorry we found my younger brother's barney the other day and I couldn't stop laughing. Or you could go with Grimmace (of McDonald's fame), he's a pretty simple thing to 'draw/airbrush'... that's what my brother called his mustang before we painted it black (it turned out purple the first time). Then you could go on eBay and find a couple grimmace teenie beanies they gave away in happy meals a while back, shove one on your antenna, and really stand out.
