    Full circle

    Hi there
I had my first Citation in the 90s, a handsome blue on blue 1980 2.8, with quite a few options. And the options it didn't have, like power windows and locks and cruise, I installed. Had to let it go when trading in for a 82 Z28.
Fast forward to 2016, just bought another 80 Citation 2.8. Driveline is perfect, it has been in a garage stationary for 18 years, so only 70k miles on it. However, everything else on it is neglected, and it has rust and is painted with a brush in places. My plan is to get it driveable, but never great to look at, that would ruin me.

With all the neglected stuff, I'm looking for a parts source, do you know anything better than just trolling ebay?

And now for a tech question that's puzzling me. I can't get the tank filled without it taking about 30 minutes! The fuel goes down so slow, and it bubbles. The seller warned me, and said it had come suddenly. There's quite a long double pipe and then two hoses. I've had the hoses off, and pushed things through the thick pipe, I assume the other pipe is for venting air when filling. There's no real blockage, I can push my flexible camera though, not easily, but there are bends in the pipe. Any ideas? Can the pipes be removed? Could be just a little goo in the venting pipe? Common issue?
    Any help will be appreciated.

BTW, as can be seen on the picture, I need an OEM left sport mirror with remote knob

Junk Yard Dogs...but I'm sure pickens are slim, unless parts were used on other GM vehicles.

Quick fixes tend to be a waste of time...do it right...find the problem, and fix it.

      Hey welcome to the forum!

Glad you found a car you have been wanting. As for the fuel tank filling problem, there is probably a partial blockage in the pipe. It can be in either pipe and cause this problem. Sometimes, a person will try to siphon fuel out of the car. They will insert a rubber hose into the gas tank, and then somehow break the hose or lose the hose in the tank. This will become lodged somewhere in the filler pipe and cause the problem you have.

Also, it appears you are in Europe (based on the number plate and the European spec amber rear turn signals). Do you have a "flapper" in the fuel filler neck? In other words, is there a plate with a small hole, that is just the right size for the fuel nozzle to go in, with a little "door" to push the nozzle through? This is a US government thing we have here, but not sure about other countries. The fuel filler neck could be totally different on your car.

Once again not sure where you're located - but in the southeast USA, I still see these from time to time in the junkyards. They are usually very much beat by that time, and things such as mirrors are about surely not worth taking. Do you know if that mirror is interchangeable with any other car models?

      Sincerely,
      David

Thanks Dave, yes I'm in Denmark where US cars rare. And thanks but I found the mirror via Junk Yard Dogs

We don't have flappers on so old cars, now they have it. My theory right now is that it can't get rid of the air, maybe the low diameter pipe going into the tank, maybe there's some pipe inside that ensures it pulls air, maybe it has fallen down.
Regardless, I'll test that by running it to empty, with extra gas in the trunk, and then see if it's still hard to fill. Clutching at straws, instead of taking it all apart.

I've now ordered parts via the suggestions above. While I wait for them to cross the Atlantic and get through customs, I have another question. It's about a 1990 Beretta 3.1, I know that's not what this forum is about, but I've spent hours now, getting nowhere: I need a new wiring harness, the 4 wire connector to the 6 injectors. It's only about 1½ feet long, as said it starts with 4 wire connector, Green Blue Pink Pink/Black
If you know where I can:
          1. Buy such wiring, new of used
          2. What the GM part# is, so I can search on
          then please let me know.

Sorry for the non A/X-body questions, but I know a lot of GM knowledge on this Forum

Back to the X-body. Does anyone know, I can't see that in the Service Manual, if the Fuel Gauge constantly read full, does that happen if the wiring from the fuel sender is constantly at full ground or no ground?
