It sucks being 18 degrees outside, I need to find a garage to work in!

It is a real gift to be able to envision something in your mind, draw it, and then carve it out and have it look just as you have envisioned it. I would never try something like that (in spite of other things I have tried) because it would end up looking like a bunch of Play-Doh that chickens had walked in and pecked at.

I never would have imagined foam sealant could turn into a bumper cover! Please keep us posted how it goes. How well does it fuse to the existing urethane bumper cover? Do you have to drill holes to allow it to grip the existing material?

That will be mean looking Cutlass Ciera before long!

Yeah it must suck to be 18° outside. It was 65° here today. Used the A/C in the car actually.

I've always loved art, I figured I could do this lol.

The foam I first used was Great Stuff: Window and Door foam, I thought I'd try that because I thought since it stuck to glass, it would be great for the bumper. Boy I was wrong, it ended up practically being a big air bubble with wet goo inside. I reread the can and a keyword "flexible" stuck out to me. So then I used Great Stuff: Big Gap Filler simply because the can said it dried rigid and had the ability to be trimmed and sanded. So I redid it and it worked great! So now I just gotta spray a hunk for the lower lip portion then I can start sanding and carving. Originally my buddy helping me, also thought we should drill holes too but it really grips on perfectly, nothing has shown it falling off or loosing grip so fingers crossed! My fiance said "I guess we'll just have to use the kitchen for a shop for a while." since we don't have an available garage. (SHES A KEEPER!!!) I'll definitely keep you guys posted, and I'll have to start my own thread, sorry burnin for stealing your thread a bit!

Definately worthy of its own thread! Looking at your Car Domain page, I noticed the link to the guy with the Dodge minivan. That is also a neat project.

I'm in similar situation as you. While I do have a barn to work in, it has no "real" electric power and no doors. We don't have as cold wether in Alabama but sometimes it can get in the high 20's which is bad if you are not used to that and don't have the kind of clothes to protect against it.

Yeah, his van was just something unique and seems very do-able and realistic. So far it's been 65 dollars total, the estimated total cost of the front bumper with be around I think $135, which is really reasonable compared to other aftermarket bumpers, considered cheap in a lot of situations. Total cost I think will be around 300, which is definitely cheap compared to any new body kit.

The weather would be more tolerable if the wind wasn't as bad, its really breezy making it feel around 10 degrees, it just is hard to work in ready or not But I'm trying to find some shelter to work in, Public Storage kicked me out for fear of chemicals damaging things, even though its just spray foam and sanding/cutting lol

Lol! They have not noticed the oxygen, argon, and acetylene bottles stashed in my rental storage unit yet.

Last time I went by there, someone else's stall had what looked like old black motor oil running out from under the door. There was a half-assed attampt to put oil-dry around it but that was soaked through and had been tracked all over the lot by everyone's tires.

You may need to find another storage place!

Yeah, I figured I wouldn't tell them nor be honest and just take my chances lol, I reserved the 10x10 room for the dollar deal and checked in with them as to what I was doing, just so they knew nothing would happen, but then the lady,who was the head manager, freaked and found out and the manager kicked me out lol, so I'll be going to the next storage units down the street. (At least I argued and got my money back, I told the head manager the other lady was fine with it lol)

Apparently these rental places have been screwed a time or two.

I do remember reading the sheet from the place I rent. Mainly fire concerns. No storage of a car unless it is drained of fuel and has the battery removed. No storage of compressed gas cylinders or fireworks.

They also prohibit "occupying the storage unit for any reason other than storing or retreiving of items." To me that would imply a renter is not allowed to use the unit for a workshop, nor live in it.

All I'm saying is - their rules are pretty strict but some places they don't even monitor. I have never seen the proprietor of this place and have had the unit for 5 years.

Thats what I'm looking for lol a poorly managed storage facility! There are people renting their garages for money (seeing is how many people are broke, can't afford cars but have garages) but they are like 200 a month, and I'm a little nervous leaving my belongings somewhere someone else has access to. I should have my lip portion done today. Wow burnin is gonna be pissed, a page and a half of his thread has been jacked lol

and most of my doubts have now been ruled out
a few months savings and by spring i should have it lol

compression and displacement but the effect is minor. Don't bore the block out to where the cylinder walls are paper-thin. The power gains are not worth the risk. Just bore it out enough to fit the next oversize pistons from the level of wear in the bores.
