New guy with a 1980 Chevy Citation

This car kind of brings back memories for me. growing up my parents always had cars that sucked in the snow (RWD) and we had a huge hill in front of hour house, Well our grandparents had a 2.5L iron duke Citation that sad to say was the most god awful thing you could have drive, it only ran on 3 cylinders, hand painted dent in every body panel radio sucked and it had some kind of code pad you needed to punch in for it to start, Well I saw this one at a dealership I was selling my Mercedes to the other day and for the price I got it for I could not pass it up, Its 1980 green 2 door Bare bones citation with the 2.8 V6 automatic, Now I know its not the CX-11 but here is the beauty of it... 26000 original miles, No rust what so ever, original paint, original interior Everything works aside from the A/C And it runs and drives like a brand new car, Its 1st drive with me was a 100 mile trip from where I bought it back to my house, So what do you all think?

Now I'm new to the X bodys but not new to their drivetrain and front end components, I've been into fieros for a number of years now and I figured grabbing the car that was essentially the parts bucket for the fiero seemed kinda cool.

What a great looking car, and it sounds like you havent had "sitting car issues so thats great. Do you have any plans foer the car? Im not much for the rims its wearing, to me they scream "teenagers tennishoes"

I joined just now to comment on this car... It is absolutely amazing! Please be good to it, be conscious of the miles you put on but don't be afraid to drive and enjoy it. I recently scored a low mile time capsule as well, but mine has a number of dings and dents from a life hidden in a garage. The green on green is killer! If it were me, I'd not change a thing other than to source some original wheels and center caps (not the granny wheel covers, just the plain Jane center cap).

I think the wheels suit the car PERFECTLY. I can't understand why others don't like them.
Overall an excellent example of an ultra-rare FERN GREEN interior with DARK FERN GREEN exterior. It's the most sought-after color of all for A-body and X-body cars.

Clean!

Saw another one, a 5 door in Wimbledon White, like mine, but with a beige interior and auto. Very, Very clean, like yours. I walked up and tried the key--it wouldn't turn. Imagine my shock; two tan '80's in same parking lot! His looked so good I was tempted to leave note how much he wanted.

Mine blew oil seal, 4 qts all over exhaust It is such a hassle to remove xaxle to get crank out to get remains of old seal out to do it properly; I just shut if t off. Get to it next month. Needs crank turned, anyway.

Make that One quart. Has bad #5 main bearing journal, from Factory. Still had good oil pressure after 92K on her. I am resolved to pulling entire motor.xaxle and replacing core plugs, etc, maybe valve job. Want to be thorough.

In a FWD such as this I'd pull the motor. To do oil pan/ rear seal. The Citation was very Malibu-ish in appearance, meaning 78 - 81 Malibu.

Yeah it was. We had a '80 Malibu Classic growing up. Miss that car...
