    Default Doc's latest project

Hi folks, been a long time since I've posted. Ciera is still doing fine. I have 3 months until I can "retire" from my Fed job. I'll be roofing for a while to fix the leaky shop. Then on to other stuff. Latest project is this orphan Japanese grey market Shibaura tractor. His name is Number 10 Ox.

Been wanting one for years, this poor critter must have some attention before it is actually usable. All I can do right now is drive around.
    Which is great fun!

oops--forgot my p*bucket is gone--will be back with pics as soon as I can host them. apologies.

Trying to use tinypic--not amazed with them--popups galore

So, what's two shifters for? Main box, and one for two speed rear end?

The shifter on the left is the range--has 4 (!) ranges and 3 forward speeds on the right shifter. It appears, I'm not sure yet, that there is yet another high/low shifter under the seat which would give this Ox 24 speeds forward.

It is problematic working on this. It's basically a Ford 1700 with a 1500 engine in it, or I think that is what the arrangement is. Got the 3 point lift working now. Lots more still to do. I tried bush-hogging the field last week, it beat the grass to death rather than chopping it. Got to get the blades off and grind some.
