    Default 87 Celebrity hazard lights

So the turn signals work fine, but if you activate the hazard switch nothing happens. I took the dash apart to replace the radio and I found the turn signal flasher above the fuse box behind the ashtray (it clicks when the signals are engaged) but I cant for the life of me find the hazard flasher.

Is there even a separate flasher for the hazards? Or does it use the same as the turn signals and something else is wrong? The stop/hazard fuse looks new as well.

The hazard flasher is most definitely a separate flasher. It is mounted with the horn relay and seat belt chime in the Buick Century variant. It it is nearly impossible to see in the Century, so I took it loose and tie wrapped it to the wiring harness. Here is a picture. Your seat belt chime / buzzer will not be white or as large.

Thanks for the pic, is that located behind the convenience center as well? The signal flasher was just dangling on some wires, I?ll see if I can find the block you are referring to

I would expect they may be together, but I can't say for sure. The differences in the dash and component locations between the A-bodies can be significant.

Seems mine was mounted with the horn relay and chime too. You could try listening to the chime to try and pinpoint it. My car is buried snow and the battery is dead so I can?t help this time.

I guess my seatbelt chime isn?t working either, if I put it in drive without a seatbelt it doesn?t do anything...

Any 'headlights on' warning when the car is off? That part still functions (if equipped) many times after the seat belt timer give out. At least you might be able to hear where the module is located.

And if that doesn?t work you could disconnect the horn and listen for the relay click. Unless you can hear the click over the horn and the horn doesn?t disturb anyone.

Does anyone have a better idea of where this would be located. I can hear the headlight/door chime but I can?t tell where it?s coming from. I don?t want to take apart the dash wildly without a plan lol

I seem to remember you have to take out the ashtray assembly to get to the flasher on the Celebrity and 6000's. Its clipped to it if I remember correctly..

This article I found seems to agree as well..

If that isnt the one, you will have to remove the knee bolster under the steering wheel and look for it. Its been a long while since I have owned a A-Body, but back against the firewall rings a bell, dangling on wires near the fuse block also rings a bell.

Yeah I found the one behind the ashtray but it?s for the turn signals. So the hazard one must be up around the steering wheel somewhere

IF it is like a Century, it is in front of the Driver's left knee. You need to be a contortionist or use a mirror and light to see it.

I FINALLY found it! It?s behind the headlight knob, there is a module with the horn relay and seat belt buzzer.

And guess what? The Hazard flasher was MISSING! As soon as I popped one in there they worked! Not sure why the previous owner removed it, hopefully it wasn?t some wiring or fuse issue...

Good you found it. If the hazard flasher is the same as the turn signal flasher then maybe the previous owner robbed it to fix the turn signals in a pinch then never followed up.

I got a Cavalier once with the electric fan wired to a household light switch. I figured the temp sensor was bad. But come to find out there was nothing wrong at all. Who knows.

And my Jeep, previous owner bought this LED string to plug into the cigarette lighter to illuminate the gauges. Turned out he just did a crap job wiring the aftermarket radio and connected the dash lights to ground. Wired it right and got rid of the hokey lights and it was fine.
